The autumn season of FedEx Cup is for the most part about boys fighting – fighting to keep their job, fighting for a place in the first characteristic events of 2026, fighting for pride.
That is enough on this week’s Sanderson Farms Championship in Jackson’s Country Club. Max Homa and Tom Kim try to get things in the right direction when we are approaching 2026. Taylor Montgomery, Vince Whaley and others want to stay on the top circuit. Garrick Higgo wants to position himself for what an ascendant year could be if he could get to the characteristic events.
Then there is Doc Redman.
The former Clemson star has not made a PGA Tour start since a missed cut at the RSM Classic 2023 sent him to PGA Tour Q school. He spent 2024 on the Korn Ferry tour and just missed his ticket back to the PGA Tour. Redman had to win the Korn Ferry Championship 2024 to earn his card. He led with four holes to play, but made a double bogey at no. 15 and a bogey on 17 to miss a play -off through one shot. This year Redman did not pass the second phase of the Korn Ferry Tour Finals, which means that he is planned to go back to the KFT in 2026.
But fate can have different plans for Doc Redman this week.
The 27-year-old arrived in the Sanderon Farms Championship via a qualifying match on Monday. Redman defeated Fred Biondi and Rhein Gibson in a play-off of three men to go into the field. He opened with a three-over 75, but fired back-to-back 65s to enter the top 15 on Sunday in Mississippi.
Redman is not fighting for Fedex Cup points this week, but the round of Sunday can change the course of his career.
A victory-redman is currently five shots back from this writing to him a check of $ 1.08 million, a two-year exemption on the PGA Tour, a place in the PGA championship and the players. It would mean that Redman would not have to go back to the Korn Ferry tour to try to grind his way back for a third consecutive season. Even if he doesn’t win, a top 10 finish would bring him to Utah Championship.
Anyway, there is a lot at stake for a man who ended the season 138th on the KFT point list and this season only earned $ 47,366 in 15 events.
“I think I didn’t think too much about it,” said Redman after his Saturday 65. “It would certainly be huge for the top 10 and in the next one or no matter how well you can do.
Pries emotional interview emphasizes 1 truth (and question) PGA Tour must answer
By means of:

Redman struggled on the Korn Ferry Tour. The courses are a bit easier and the scores always low. To compete and claw your way back to the PGA tour, you must be able to touch the accelerator pedal and be repeated. Golf is a fickle game and Redman has taken a number of heavy hits in recent years since he lost his card.
But he took some free time in the spring to be with his family and to ground. He has found a new appreciation to be able to chase his dream, regardless of what level he currently lives.
Redman will lean on that new perspective while doing it on Sunday with a chance to change everything.
“So I think if I can enter tomorrow, don’t worry about what will happen at the end of the day and just play hard, it will all work,” Redman said.
“There are really no bad results unless I had a bad posture or something like that. So you know, I think I’m good enough, so I just have to trust.”
