Zim vs SL 2025: Sean Williams comes from T20i pension, added to Squad | Cricker

Zimbabwe Allrounder Sean Williams has decided to come from T20i pension and was mentioned in the team to start Sri Lanka opposite the Drie-Match series from this afternoon at Harare Sports Club. Williams had announced his retirement of the shorter format last year during Zimbabwe’s Way tour through Bangladesh. His last performance came in the fifth and last T20i of that series, which Zimbabwe won with eight wickets.

The 37-year-old will resume his international T20 career with an impressive record of 81 games, and scored 1,691 runs on an average of 23.48, including 11 half centers and a top score of 66. With the ball he has taken 38 Wickets, with best figures of 3/15, back in Khulna.

Zimbabwe T20i captain Sikandar Raza welcomed the return of Williams and noted that his experience, together with the recording of Brendan Taylor in the team, will offer an important boost for the Chevrons Dugout. Raza, who was recently crowned no. 1 Odi all-rounder said he had a discussion with Williams about the call, and things finally succeeded.

‘It’s nice to have willow [Williams] Back of course. We had this conversation a few months ago. During the test competitions I had one-on-one chat with Willow and we said: “This is an opportunity to go to the World Cup.” You just have to decide yourself and your family, “said Raza as quoted by News Day.

“Willow took some time and decided that he is ready. You have to look at his workload. Willow is an all-rounder and he plays every game for Zimbabwe. His fitness level, his time away from the Family Hij must consider. After he has spoken to the family and the people he trusts, he is very blessed and happy.

Zimbabwe are sure to take off exciting T20 bone

Zimbabwe showed promising in the recent ODI series against Sri Lanka, where he hardly missed any victories in both games. Raza said he was motivated by those performances and hopes that his team can wear that form in the T20Is. Sri Lanka Captain Charith Asalanka Recognized the threat of the hosts and said he expected a tough series at Harare Sports Club.

“I am a strong proponent that once you start looking at the end result, the whole process gets away from you. I thought the way we hit, Field and Bowlen in the ODI series should give us a lot of confidence to have an exciting T20 series against Sri Lanka,” Raza said.

“Knowing that they also use this tour to prepare for the qualifications, I think they will really be a challenge for us. A few young players are in the Zimbabwe team, and I think it will be a good, challenging T20 series. We just want to do our base really well,” said the Sri Lankan skipper.
