Zerodha’s youngest account holder is 64 days old, says Nithin Kamath. Here’s how

Zerodha’s youngest account holder is a 64-day-old baby, founder and CEO Nithin Kamath said in a tweet while sharing a video of a few parents talking about how they plan for their children’s financial future.

“I can keep telling Gyan that you should start investing for your kids early, but nothing beats hearing from parents who are actually doing it. Here are some first-hand experiences from people using a @zerodhaonline minor account to invest for their kids. PS Our youngest account holder is just 64 days old.

In the video, one of the parents complained that the Indian education system does not have a finance course for children. Another emphasized the importance of investing, even if you enjoy the money you make.

The Zerodha platform facilitates the opening of accounts for minors, which can be done through the KITE application. The account is free to open and helps children invest in stocks, bonds and mutual funds for their future.

Kamath is quite active on Twitter and keeps sharing his views on a variety of issues related to stock markets and investments. Recently, he revealed how maintaining an offline demat account not only kept him away from the temptation of frequent trading but also gave him his best investment returns from long-held positions in this secondary account. Kamath explained how a secondary demat account can help investors separate their long-term and short-term investments while enabling smarter tax management. He also spoke about the growing investment awareness among women, with almost 50% of Zerodha’s female users now managing their own demat accounts.
