Team India spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has broken his silence on the cheating allegations made by his ex-wife Dhanashree Verma, calling them baseless and tiresome. He stated that a relationship of such duration could not have lasted if he had cheated early on, adding that he has moved on with his life.
In the OTT show Rise and Fall, Dhanashree alleged that Chahal cheated on her just two months after their marriage. During a conversation with fellow contestant Kubbra Sait, the choreographer revealed when she realized the failure of the marriage, it sparked attention and discussion on social media platforms.

“I’m an athlete and I don’t cheat. If someone cheats within two months, what happens to the relationship?? (If someone had cheated within the first two months, would the relationship have lasted this long?) For me, this chapter is over, done and dusted. I’ve moved forward with my life, and everyone should too” he said.
Chahal and Dhanashree came into contact with each other for the first time during the COVID-19 lockdown. The spinner enrolled for her online dance classes and their relationship developed quickly, leading to marriage on December 22, 2020. However, the Bandra Family Court in Mumbai granted their divorce on March 20, 2025.
Some people are still stuck there – Yuzvendra Chahal
Yuzvendra Chahal stated that their marriage lasted for 4.5 years. He noted that some people are stuck in the past, adding that he is not swayed by continued speculation. The cricketer stated that this is the last time he will address the issue.
“Hamari shadi 4.5 years thi. Agar two months mei cheat hua hota toh kaun continue karta? Mai pehle bhi bol chuka hun ki mai past se nikal chuka hun. (Our marriage lasted 4.5 years. If I had cheated within two months, who would continue with it? I have also told it before that I have put the past behind me.) But some people are still stuck there,” he added.
“Abhi bhi kai log uss cheez ko pakde hue hain, abhi bhi unka ghar merenaam se chal raha hai toh they can continue to do that. (People are still holding on to these things, if people’s houses are turning by taking my name, they can continue to do that.) I am not worried or affected. And I feel like this is the last time I discuss that chapter of my life.”
Yuzvendra Chahal last played for Team India in August 2023
Yuzvendra Chahal has been out of the Indian playing lineup since August 2023. He was part of the squad that won the 2024 T20 World Cup but did not play any matches. The leg-spinner has been active in domestic and overseas cricket.
