Yuvraj Sandhu registered a pounding eight-shot victory over the RS 1 Crore Mysuru Open on Friday to conquer his third title of the season and to consolidate his lead in the PGTI order of merit.
It was a wire-to-wire run by Sandhu (61-65-62-61), who booked his card with a brace of bogey-free 9 under 61s, the PGTI said.
The Chandigarh golfer finished the week at an amazing 31 under 249 at his very first performance in the unspoilt Jayachamaraja Wadiyar Golf Club.
The 28-year-old took a check with a value of RS 15 Lakh that brought the income from his season to RS 73.67,200, a lead of more than RS 12 Lakh in the PGTI order of merit.
He also took an elegant new trophy home from Majestuous Mysore Palace, the most prominent monument in the city.
Since the preferred rule was in the game all week thanks to the rain prior to the event, Sandhu’s tournament -Totaal, the lowest ever on the Tour, will not register as a PGTI record.
Bangladesh’s Jamal Hossain (62-65-64-66) hung well in second place at 23 under 257 with a combat final round effort.
Mr. Consistent
Arjun Prasad of Delhi (66-62-64-66) became third at 22 under 258. As a result, the consistent artists stood with eight top 10’s to his credit this season, from third to second on the PGTI money list with a win of RS 61.12,549.
Sandhu, started the last day with a healthy lead of three shots and quickly opened an ever -increasing gap with five birdies to its front nine.
The Green found his ride on the third hole of the Par-4 and he picked up and then set up a tap-in on the next two holes.
On the incoming nine continued Sandhu, there are unstoppable Mars by picking up four more shots, two of great tee-shots and a second chip-in of the day on hole 11.
The winner of the first two events of the PGTI season of the 2025 PGTI, Sandhu later said: “Wining with a score of 31 below and a huge margin to add to that is something that every professional golfer dreams of.
“I want to thank my entire team for their support. I spend this victory on my grandmother that we lost about two months ago and also to my Caddy Sonu who did an excellent job this week.
Productive grinding
“My form during the week was, as I said before, a reflection of the routine that I went through in the low season. It feels nice when all that hard work pays off.
“I am now looking forward to carrying this form to the coming season.
“I had a side bet with my Caddy that I will break my previous PGTI record of 10 by shooting an 11-bottom today. Unfortunately I couldn’t achieve that, but it was something that motivated me through the round.
“I want to thank the JWGC for a great course setup this week. The members were very encouraging because they walked with many groups and the staff did fantastic work by holding the course in top condition, despite the rain prior to the event.”
Hossain, at night, came with six Birdies in his pursuit of the run -away leader after an early Double Bogey started his start.
However, the Dhaka golfer had the satisfaction to end with a hat trick with a birdie
Dhruv Bopanna had the best finish among the local professionals with a 3 under 277 to take part of 53RD place.
