YouTube expands access to title A/B testing and adds C-SPAN to YouTube TV

YouTube is once again expanding access to the thumbnail and title A/B tests, while also adding C-SPAN to its YouTube TV content lineup.

First of all, YouTube did that announced that A/B title and thumbnail testing is now rolling out to all creators with access to advanced features.

As you can see in this example, YouTube creators can now test up to three video title variations through the same A/B testing process as their thumbnails, giving them more insight into the best option to maximize views.

YouTube’s thumbnail A/B testing, which it originally announced 2023shows your thumbnail options to a sample of viewers for two weeks, with the winner then selected based on what results in the most viewing time.

(Note: YouTube says it uses watch time instead of click-through rate in this calculation because that’s what it’s aiming for to maximize viewer engagement, and the company believes that watch time is a better indicator to maximize viewer value.)

And now that AI image generators can help come up with additional thumbnail images, many more creators are likely eager to try this out, as a way to tap into just the right approach for their content.

YouTube has been gradually rolling out thumbnail testing, while recently adding title testing to the mix.

And now all creators with advanced features (i.e. creators who have gone through this YouTube’s ID verification process) has access to both options.

It can be a useful addition to your YouTube process, giving you more data-driven insights into creative approaches and validating your process.

On another front, YouTube has also announced that YouTube TV viewers can now view C-SPAN content in the app.

This also provides valuable insight into the actual workings of the federal government and the bureaucratic process that dictates important changes. As such, this could be a valuable addition, with YouTube saying it will also sponsor C-SPAN’s “America 250” programming, starting next year.

Finally, YouTube is also introducing some new seasonal stickers to give as gifts in livestreams.

Seasonal Gifts from YouTube

As you can see, you can now give live creators an owl (?) or hot chocolate when you donate to their stream via stickers.

The new stickers are now available to all creators with vertical livestreams with gift option, and will remain active until March 20.
