Young GB Pathway players in China for ‘crucial’ training blocks – Table tennis England

A group of young GB -Pathway -athletes has traveled to China for a block of intensive training aimed at elevating their technical and tactical games.

Connor Green, Kacper Piwowar, Abraham Sellado, Max Radiven and Dimitar Dimitrov from England, alongside Gavin Yuan van Scotland, are located in the group, who also includes established star Tin-Tin Ho and Coach Carlo Agnello.

They are located in Zhengzhou in the province of Henan, where they practice every day at a table tennis school, alongside players from the province team. They also practiced against players from the province of Hunan.

The trip is one of the two training blocks of three to four weeks in Asia organized for Pathway players, once in August and one in December.

Carlo said that with the WTT calendar, competitions and school all demands on the young players, solid blocks of training such as those are invaluable.

He said: “We don’t always have a lot of time for structured exercise for a longer period, which is why these two training blocks are crucial for the development of our younger players, so that we can improve certain aspects of their play, whether it is technical or tactical.

“There is a wide variety of players and standards are very high.”
