Paul Azinger says he has Keegan Bradley sms’te for ‘taking the main road’. He was impressed by how he dealt with making the 2023 US Ryder Cup team. He felt that he was friendly. He told him that he would someday be a captain.

But the step to have Bradley fulfilled in that role two years after that moment?

“The people who put him there,” said Azinger, “should know better.”

Talking on Golf’s Subpar Podcast hours After Europe had defeated the Bradley-linked American team with 15-13 on Sunday in the Ryder Cup in Bethpage Black, said the American Ryder Cup captain of 2008 that he was critical about the Bradley-Pick because of Bradley’s game. When Bradley made the choices of his captain at the end of August, he was 11th in the American team classification and 11th in the world ranking, but he chose not to select himself and dedicated to the captain.

But Azinger said that was a mistake, although not from Bradley’s.

“I had no idea that he would be a captain now,” said Azinger on Subpar. “And I am critical that he is the captain. If you are going to choose a man in his prime, you will risk what happened here this week.”

And that was the defeat, the ninth by the Americans in the last 12 Ryder Cups. So who should have been a captain?

On insufficient, Azinger wondered why players were not picked outside their Prime. He called David Toms, Stewart Cink and Justin Leonard. But last July, Bradley was appointed instead of the place he accepted.

The question of whether he would become a playing feather captain then followed.

The Subpar-Mede-Gastheer pulled Stoltz: “Do you choose yourself, right? Or if he had played badly and 38th was in the ranking, no problem, you are just the captain. But he had to go through that time and time again.”

Said Azinger: “The whole year. And that was his focus. And I feel that you could almost say, well, he ruined it. He didn’t chose himself.”

Stoltz said, “That’s what I think. I mean, people will say that now. They will blame many things.”

Said Azinger: “He was just put in an unfortunate place and the people who place him there should know better.”
