Custom Content was one of three yearlings that sold for six figures on Wednesday. The other two both sold for $100,000: the walking colt Bacchus Blue Chip to Burke Racing Stable and the trotting colt Neck Beads to Steve Elliott.
During the three-day yearling portion of the Standardbred Horse Sale, a total of 864 yearlings passed through the auction ring for a total of $36.03 million, an average of $41,701. Last year, sales were nearly $37.1 million, an average of $42,830.
Compared to 2024, this year saw a gross decline of 2.86 percent and an average decline of 2.63 percent, but the average recovered significantly after falling almost 13.2 percent after the opening session on Monday.
The third session this year raised a total of $5.43 million for 323 yearlings, an average of $16,830. Last year’s third session raised a total of $5.56 million for 337 yearlings, an average of $16,499.
Custom Content, a son of Cantab Hall-Custom Model, is a half-brother of millionaire Custom Cantab. The colt was bred by Nina Todorov Gueorguieva and shipped by Hunterton Sales Agency. He is eligible for Pennsylvania and Kentucky.
Bacchus Blue Chip is a son of the American Ideal-Sunnynseventyfive. The colt was bred by Blue Chip Bloodstock and supplied by Blue Chip Farms. He is eligible for New York and Massachusetts.
Neck Beads, a son of the father of the first harvest Back of the neck from Pay For Soup. He is eligible for New York and Kentucky. The colt was bred by Order By Stable AB and offered by Preferred Equine Marketing as an agent for owner Joni Hostetler.
Two trotting stallions averaged six figures, with Chapter seven leader with $173,864 for 22 yearlings. Walter was next, with an average of $132,565 for 23 yearlings.
Trotters earned a total of $48,965 for 397 horses. Foals average $57,109 for 175 horses and foals average $42,706 for 221 horses.
Down on the coast led pacing bulls averaged $88,364 for 11 yearlings. Captain treacherous was next, with an average of $71,905 for 42 yearlings.
Pacers earned a total of $35,527 for 467 horses. Foals averaged $39,063 for 238 horses and fillies averaged $31,852 for 229 horses.
The two-day mixed auction of the Standardbred Horse Sale starts Thursday and continues Friday. Both sessions start at 11am
