Yankees do not give up Luke Weaver because he offers a small piece of optimism

Toronto – Luke Weaver registered his first from the late season and needed only one throw to protect the final from the eighth inning in the loss of the Blowout Yankees.

And although that was about such a low leverage as you will find in October, manager Aaron Boone insisted that the Yankees are not yet ready to give up the Reliever that his first two Playoff performances were not out.

A year after he was closer to the club during his run to the World Series, Weaver is in a mystery: in the past month the Yankees noticed that he turned his pitches, except that something happened on the way to try to avoid his stream on the hill.

The result was not to include in his first two performances, including Saturday, when he came in the seventh inning of a 2-1 match that became a 10-1 loss for the Blue Jays in Game 1 of the ALDS.

“If it [the game] Calls him up, it calls him, “said Boone before Game 2, a loss of 13-7.” Inside what he said, he also understands how close he is and how physically he feels good. He is an outing to turn it around. It is not as if we are trying to get a man who is: “Uh, his things is not where it should be.” Clean up some things, one outing, boom.

“But, certainly aware of where things are.”

Weaver relieved Will Warren with two out in the eighth inning and let Dulton Varsho fly away at the only pitch he threw.

Yet the pecking order in the bullpen is by no means put in stone, especially since Camilo Doval looks just as good as he has in a Yankees uniform in game 1 with two perfect innings.

But to get the Yankees where they want to go, they need everyone who pulls their weight.

“And different days and different games, boys will have to be [pitching in high-leverage spots]Depending on what the game asks, “said Boone.” And the play -offs are almost all high leverage. ”

In the meantime, Weaver sounded like he was ready to go back to what worked for him earlier and not to think much about not tipping.

“It’s just about trying to adjust and they happen quite late and it has become a lot,” said Weaver. “So in the end I am at a point where I am just completely and that is nothing more. I will be what I think is best for me and I will go outside and attack as I have to.”

Boone said he was considering starting Paul Goldschmidt on Sunday, because the splitter of Blue Jays Right-Hander Trey Yesavage is so heavy for the left.

Instead, he preferred the threat of Ben Rice, who hit 0-out-2 with two strikeouts against yes provision before he went 2-out-2 with an RBI-Double against the Bullpen.

Rice then started catching the last two innings – his first action behind the plate in the Play -Ooffs – after Goldschmidt Hit for Austin Wells.
