Observations from Yankees spring training Thursday in Tampa:
Goodbye, goodbye
Austin Wells and Giancarlo Stanton both crushed home runs off Osvaldo Bido during live batting practice, with Stanton’s blast hitting the middle of the scoreboard in left-center field.
Bido defeat
Bido, who claimed waivers earlier this month but is out of minor league options, took a bit of a beating during his time on the job.
He narrowly escaped a line drive that was smoked back to him by Aaron Judge, and Trent Grisham tapped a deep ball to the warning track.

Caught my attention
JC Escarra mixed some first base work with his regular catching duties on Thursday and also got out his glove for third base.
Escarra made cameos at both corner infield spots last season, and his ability to play there in emergencies adds to his chances of making the roster, giving the Yankees more flexibility off the bench even if they carry three catchers.
Friday’s schedule
The Yankees open Grapefruit League play on the road against the Orioles in Sarasota, Florida, with top pitching prospect Elmer Rodríguez getting the start.
