Award-winning film producer Warwick Ross, who sold a Bellevue Hill mansion for nearly $50 million earlier this year, has purchased his next glamorous home with movie star looks.

Ross, who produced the Yahoo Serious comedies Young Einstein, Reckless Kelly and Mr Accident, and his wife Margot, a former journalist and legal correspondent at the Financial Review, have paid $18.4 million for a home in Wallaroy Cres, Woollahra.

The four-bedroom home is listed on realestate.com.au as sold 10 days ago through Alexander Phillips and Gavin Lewis of PPD.

They had no comment on the buyer, although other sources spread the rumors.

The house was designed by acclaimed architect Michael Suttor.

The sellers commissioned a lavish internal renovation by designer Tamsin Johnson.

The sellers were former Allianz boss George Sartorel and his wife Kathy, who bought the luxury home on a 547m2 plot just two years ago for $15.05 million.

The house already had good bones, designed by acclaimed architect Michael Suttor, but the Sartorels commissioned then-interior designer Tamsin Johnson to create a lavish interior.

It now smells of the kind of showbiz style that would impress the likes of Ross.

As the realestate.com.au spiel advises: “A grand 1920s country house has been reborn through the creative lens of celebrated designer Tamsin Johnson, whose globally informed aesthetic brings bold patterns, sculptural forms and a touch of whimsy to every detail.”

‘Glossy’ marble and chevron French Oak abound.

The place sounds like it came straight out of a Hollywood set.

“The three-story home unfolds into a private poolside oasis, while a sunset terrace is perfect for cocktail hour.”

Although considerably smaller, it is reminiscent of their former mansion at 78 Kambala Rd, Bellevue Hill, which sold for $48,499,999 in March through William Manning and Luke Hogan of McGrath.

That was a six-bedroom French Provincial-style house on a 1,567 sq m block with a swimming pool and panoramic views that sold within days.

Ross, who had also been a production assistant on the Brooke Shields film Blue Lagoon in the 1980s, had owned the Bellevue Hill mansion since 1996, when it was purchased for $3.27 million.

Shortly afterward, they undertook a major restoration and renovation of the grand home, including adding a Hollywood-style swimming pool. In 2008 they added the garage with studio above.

More recently, Warwick has produced an award-winning documentary about the Bordeaux wine region and the impact of Chinese growth on global wine production.
