Tower mounteda side-scrolling action RPG published by Xbox Game Studios and available in early access, will officially launch on February 26. But instead of launching as a free-to-play, always-on online game, as originally planned, Tower mounted instead becomes a paid game that you can play offline.

“You permanently own the entire experience, with offline play and online co-op,” said Trisha Stouffer, CEO and president of Tower mounted developer Stoicijn, says in an Xbox Wire blog post. “This change required a deep structural rebuild over the past year, transforming systems that were originally designed around constant connectivity. The result is a stronger, more accessible and player-friendly version of Towerborne – one we’re proud to launch.”

“After listening to our community during Early Access and Game Preview, we learned that players wanted a complete, polished experience without ongoing monetization mechanisms,” according to a frequently asked question. “By moving to a premium model we can deliver the full game upfront – no live service grind, no pay-to-win systems – just the best version of Tower mounted.”

With the popular live service games such as Fortnite And Roblox increasingly difficult to appropriate, From Towerborne moving to a premium, offline playable experience could make it more appealing to players who don’t want to dive into another time-consuming perpetual game. It makes Tower mounted at least more attractive to me.

With the 1.0 release of the game, Tower mounted will have a “complete” story, new bosses, and a “reworked” difficulty system. You can also obtain all in-game cosmetics for free through gameplay, without having to purchase any more cosmetic products. Players who are already part of early access can still play the game.

Tower mounted launches February 26 on Xbox Series X/S, Xbox on PC, Game Pass, Steam, and PS5. The standard edition costs $24.99, while the deluxe edition costs $29.99.
