X has published Last overview of how the content ranksTo maximize user involvement, with a Full list of the codebase For the “For You” timeline, which is the primary feed for X users.
Although instead you can request the “next” feed, and I would indicate a bet that many X users do exactly that. But the code for the For You Feed reveals what X thinks are the most important factors to stimulate involvement and to keep users interested in the app.
So what are those factors?
Well, in general the most important factors that stimulate X post -engagement are the same as they have been for a while, but it is worth mentioning the details for your strategy.
According to X’s documentation on The core signals it uses to select messages to select the current factors and their relative weighting (of the 100) in individual usage periods are:
- The chance that the USER answers the tweet and that Is an answer Than involved of by the tweet author (+75))
- The chance that the user will answer the tweet (+13.5))
- The chance that the user will open the tweet author’s profile and will enjoy or answer a tweet (+12.0))
- The chance that the user clicks and answers in the conversation of this tweet or likes tweet (+11))
- The chance that the user clicks on the conversation of this tweet and standY there for at least 2 minutes (+10))
- The probability that the user will retweet the tweet (+1.0))
- The chance that the user will have the tweet favorite (+0.5)
- The probability (for a video tweet) that the user will watch at least half of the video (+0.005))
So, as you can see, the most important focus on an individual user is relevant level, involvement and the chance that you will cause a conversation, especially with the mail author. That is how X gives priority to messages from people with whom you have regular contact, but it also serves as a guide about how you can ensure that you get your messages in the feeds from more users.
This is by causing involvement, ideally in the form of answers. That is difficult, because the vast majority of X users do not post anything at all, but again, as a remark about what X wants to stimulate, involvement is the key.
In terms of more general engagement factors, and on what X wants to concentrate, user Alex Finn has placed a good breakdown of the most important elements.
First, on what X wants to see, these elements get an algorithmic boost:
- Video -Messages get a big boost, especially if users watch more than 10 seconds
- Post Dwell Time is another consideration
- Quotes and bookmarks are positive engagement signals that will stimulate your reach
- Being refurbished also increases your mail range
- Makers who post “viral” updates will receive more reach on the following messages
So nothing new there, with videos that are a big focus and verified users get an advantage.
However, these factors will see you hit with punishments:
- Posting “offensive” text (80% range reduction)
- Have an offensive username
- Posts in all caps
- Including links in your messages
- The chance that one User will respond negatively (Tap “Show less often” or author, or block/stupid))
- The chance that the user will click on “Report”
These are almost the same as under Twitter, with a few small changes, including a steeper fine for link messages.
However, X does not explain what ‘offensive’ means in this context, so we are not sure what it regards it harmful or punishable in this respect.
Fine can also be cumulative because they relate to the reputation score of your account, which means that any punishment for running your reach can limit, and not just by post.
X has several labels on this front that can be applied to accounts and limiting the range, including:
- Messages of low quality
- Spam
- Toxicity
- Non -trusted url
- NSFW
- Gorge
- Repeatedly mention another @handle
Do one of these things, and your reach will be punished for a period or “shadow wire”.
So what does that mean for your X strategy?
Well, video items that encourage people to answer, will get you more reach, and involving individual commentators will also help ensure that more of your updates are shown in their feeds. That is the performance indicator at the highest level that X wants to stimulate, while any involvement and residence time will help improve postal performance.
Do not place in all caps and do not place attacking content, and you will also avoid punishing, while taking on the left is something else to avoid.
That is not great for those of us who want to refer users back to our properties of our own owning, but Elon Musk has made it clear He doesn’t want to help take traffic to other sitesPrefer us to keep users on X for as long as possible instead.
That makes sense, but it is probably not the best way to maximize the involvement of the publisher, which can be a large engine of activity.
But that is the call that Elon has made, while he is too noticed thatSoon all this code will probably be replaced by Grok AI reviews and assessments.
So it may not be long, but at the moment these are the factors that send postal performance on X.
