Daniel Tran of the US achieved the highest honor in the U19 Boys Singles event at the WTT Youth Contender Series event in San Francisco. Tran came in like the fourth seed, but eliminated the best placed Lin-Kin-Ting from Taipei before he did not eliminate Chulong of Australia 3-1 in the final Chulong. Two other Americans won an early game with Tanish Pendse and Kef Noorani, each reaching the quarterfinals.
Japanese players were dominant in the U19 girls with three Japanese players who reached the semi -final. Rin Mende defeated India’s Syndrela Das in one semi and Cocona Muramatsu defeated Hisa Uriu in the other. Rin Mende then stood Cocona Muramatsu 3-2 in a full-Japanese final. Irene Yeoh of the US was the only one in the draw, the Fell to the Eval Winner in the quarterfinals. The U19 Mixed Doubles Champions were Bosman Botha of the US and the Japanese Rin Mende.
In U17 Boys, Cheng Min-Hsiu from Taipei won the event and got three of the best in America. Cheng beat Jaden Jia van the US in the round of 16, at the top of the Kyler Chen of the US in the quarterfinals, and then defeated the best placed kef Noorani in the semi -final. In the end, the Cheng final was over Thailand’s Thitaphat PrECECHAYAN. The U17 Girls title went to the Japanese Aoba Takahashi that defeated Lee Dahye from the Republic of Korea. Irene Yeoh was the only American to win a match in the event and lost in the quarterfinals of the final winner Takahashi.
The U15 Boys title went to Thailand’s Thitaphat Preetechayan about Taipei’s Wu Yuan-Kai. Four Americans in the event reached the round of 16: Kyler Chen, Ethan Wang, Joshua Joseph and Chirag Pradhan. The U15 Girls event was won by Lu Yu-en on Chen Chih Yen in a full Taipei final. Isabella Luo of the US and Chiang Janelle finished third. Anya Shanbhag of the US had a nice victory in the first round before he fell to finalist Chen in the quarters. The mixed Doubles U15 champions were Taipei’s Wu and Lu.
The U13 Boys Singles event went to Wu Yuan-Kai over Onk Zane with Loh Yi Xi and Kojima Ryuya ending in third place. Anya Shanbhag of the US was the first to finish in U13 Girls with Singapore Die Chevelle in the second time, and a few Americans in third place – Alice Chen and Shreya Venkateraman. The top four in U11 Boys -Singles were Ali Afrakhteh in the first, the US William Jin in second place, and the US Aarudhran Aswin and Taipei’s Cheng Hao Chung in third place. And in the U11 girl event, the Shreya Srinivasan of the US was in the first place, Sie Cai Yin in second place, and Shriya Kodaty and Qi Leah of the US in third place.
