World Series game 3 thread: Max Scherzer vs. Tyler Glasnow

The two heavyweights exchange blows. After the Toronto Blue Jays shockingly eliminated their opponent in game one, the Los Angeles Dodgers right back answered with a decisive victory in game two. Now the teams head to Chavez Ravine in Los Angeles with a 1-1 draw. Despite the history the Dodgers made in game two – with Yoshinobu Yamamoto pitching a complete game victory – it still feels like this series could go either way.

Starting for the Blue Jays is right-handed Max Scherzer. The 41-year-old future Hall of Famer had a down year in the regular season by his own standards. He missed time due to injuries and made just 17 starts with a 5.19 ERA over 85 innings. However, all that no longer matters now. For Mad Max, this is the stage that matters most. Take him out of the game at your own risk.

Scherzer made his last start in the ALCS against the Seattle Mariners, giving up two earned runs on three hits and four walks over 5 2/3 innings. He also struckout five batters.

On the doorstep for the Dodgers is right-hander Tyler Glasnow. Glasnow also missed time this season with injuries, making just 18 starts. However, he was largely excellent when he pitched. In 90 1/3 innings, he posted a 3.19 ERA and struckout 106 batters.

Glasnow has been nearly flawless this postseason. He has made three appearances (including two starts) and has given up just one earned run on seven hits and eight walks. He struck out 18 batters in 13 2/3 innings of work.
