Tonight is the night. We are finally back in competitive action in St James’ Park after three months of waiting since that last day defeat against Everton in May.

A lot has happened since then, but we now have the chance to cut out the noise and to respond with a big atmosphere and even greater performance against Liverpool.

There are so many subplots and the desire to win has only been strengthened by Alexander Isak’s antics to try a switch to tonight’s opponents. However, we can only do one thing; Sing out our hearts to support the boys and intimidate a Liverpool side that comes the Leeuwenkuil at 8 p.m.

WOR flags have planned a large display and have released its pre-match message to fans who go to the competition:

In a statement on X they said: “Back in St James’ Park, and also under the lights! Not much has to say in the atmosphere, we know what to do, directly from the out, behind the boys in black and white!

“There are displays in both the Gallowgate and the rather rather, and your help is greatly appreciated! The Gallowgate is flooded with flags, if you have one in your chair or if you see one on a walkway, let it go, it helps the display that we have planned.

“Go in Newcastle! Howay the boys!”

We were the 12th man in Wembley in our last meeting with the side of Arne Slot and we can be that again tonight.

We may not have started a recognized striker, but if supporters can inspire our boys into a different great achievement, we have every chance to get one about a Liverpool who has had difficulty matching our intensity and physicality in our last two meetings.

How do you want the boys!
