The family of a ‘friendly and caring’ woman who was found dead by a wardrobe from a hotel room is still three years later without answers.

Chloe Haynes, 21, was imprisoned in September 2022 under the furniture in the Adelphi Hotel in Liverpool.

Her mother Nicola Williams said the moment she was determined to find out how her daughter died so unexpectedly.

Three men were arrested on suspicion of murder, but the police later ruled her death an accident.

The environmental health department of the town hall launched its own investigation months later and insisted that the prospect of criminal prosecution was still on the table.

Chloe had traveled to the city from the Haven Holiday Park in Noord -Wales, where she worked.

The colleague with whom she shared a room for the night out, raised the alarm after finding her body.

Her mother Nicola told the ultrasound at the time: ‘She had drunk shots and so on and she was a bit drunk, so her boyfriend brought her back to the hotel to sleep it and then he went back.

‘It seems that she has stepped out of the bed confused, not knowing where she is, and she has opened the door of the wardrobe, perhaps thinking that it is the toilet or the door to leave the room back.

“It was a large, old, heavy wardrobe and it fell on her and crushed her wind pipe.”

She said that Chloe’s roommate shouted to two other men from adjacent rooms to lift her wardrobe, but she could not be saved.

Nicola added: ‘My little nickname for her was Birdy. She was so petite and little and when she ate, she was like a small bird.

“She was quiet, she was someone who didn’t speak unless it needed. But in the last 12 months she came out of her shell.

“She gained her confidence and she had a broad circle of friends. She was friendly and caring. ‘
