Hartford, CT – For Dylan Garand, the 2024-25 season represents a professional high grade. Selected in the fourth round, 103RD In general, Garand has shown statistical growth in each of his three seasons as a professional by the New York Rangers in the NHL entry in the 2020.
With the Hartford Wolf Pack during the 2024-25 season, Garand new career stated high figures in victories with 20, savings percentage with a .913 mark and goal average with a 2.73. He also tied his career high in Shutouts with three.
It was a season that Garand placed at the level of the best goalkeepers of the competition, the kind of year he can be proud of.
“I feel pretty good about it,” he said when he was asked about the season. “It is clear that as a team, not where we wanted to end, I would rather have finished that we have completed months after April, but that is just the way it went this year. I am proud of the way I put it on the line every evening and competed, I tried to give the boys a chance to win every night. I think it was a good year and I have a lot of.”
Giving his team an opportunity to win every night resulted in a career high in victories for the resident of Victoria, BC. He ended with a record of 20-10-8, which was also good for the least losses in his professional career.
In a season of 72 games, winning 20 games is a performance that only a select few goalkeepers can distract each AHL season. It is a milestone that was not lost on Garand when he looked back on the season that was.
“It was great. That is the name of the game, winning,” he said. “20 victories is a large number, it was absolutely nice to get that in my last start. I was stuck there for a few weeks, so it was nice to get that in my last start. It is quite cool to do for the first time, but hopefully I can surpass that number next year.”
That has always been the mentality of the young little ones. Garand was sensational for the Wolf Pack during the play -offs of the Calder Cup 2023, which means that the team was accompanied to the final of the Atlantic Division. He wore that momentum in the 2023-24 season, in which he improved in almost every statistical category.
However, Garand felt after the 2023-24 season that his regular season numbers did not fully reflect the step he really took. He enjoyed another strong late season in the spring of 2024, with the help of that as a springboard for a year in which he admitted that he has taken a step in his development.
“Yes, sure,” Garand explained when he was asked if he felt that he was taking a big step last season. “To be honest, I feel a bit the same as last year. I think I might be even better than my songs that was shown last season. It was nice to get those results. Of course it is a factor of the work that I did every day, last summer and every day this season.
So what is the next step in the process? Louis Domingue, who has been together with Garand for the past three seasons, signed abroad in July and will not return to Hartford this fall. That leaves Garand as potentially the workhorse for a Wolf Pack team that is determined to return to the Calder Cup -Play -Offs.
Is that the next step in the development process for this young two?
“Certainly,” he said. “Ik denk dat een beetje daarvan en ook aandringen om te spelen in de NHL. Ik denk dat ik dit jaar heb laten zien dat ik een van, zo niet de, beste doelmannen in deze competitie en NHL -kaliber kan zijn. Uiteraard wacht ik op mijn kans. Ik weet dat als ik het werk blijf doen, dat zal komen. Waar ik ben, waar ik ben, of het hier is, of hier, ik ga het om te winnen en te blijven werken en beter wordt.
“When I am in Hartford, I am very enthusiastic to wear the load for this team. It is exciting to look forward to that.”
After missing the Calder Cup -Play -Offs in April, Garand started his first extended low season as a professional. Extra time to rest and restore. Extra time to prepare and train.
How does he spend that time, prior to a season in which he hopes to improve the statistics that have made him an AHL All-Star?
“Here and there work on some things,” Garand said about what he wants to improve this summer. “I want to work on my skating, working on my puck and I also want to work on presenting myself greater.
“I think if I do those things and keep working hard every day, the training camp comes, I am ready for every chance I get. Those things are a bit of the focus. I like where my game is and I just keep working to improve everything in general.”
