Hartford, CT – Brendan Brisson experienced a variety of scoops during the 2024-25 season. For the first time in his career, the former first round Draft Choice de Nhl made the NHL from training camp with the Vegas Golden Knights. He also experienced his first trade, because he was taken over by the New York Rangers of the Golden Knights at the NHL trading theadline.
“It was a bit different,” Brisson said about trade. “I have just been to the same organization for the past five years since I was drawn up, also in the middle season, not as it was in the summer when you had the chance to adjust in the camp, it was different.”
Otherwise it can be good. Brisson quickly adapted to his new home, something that was made possible by the culture and leadership in Hartford.
“It was great when I arrived here,” he added. “The entire organization, the staff, the coaches, the players, they welcomed me with open arms and really allowed me to get my confidence back. It was a difficult year for me, and they were great that way.”
Brisson was an immediate impact player for the Henderson Silver Knights of the AHL. He scored eight points (3 g, 5 a) in just seven games late in the 2021-22 season after they have become. As Rookie during the 2022-23 season, he scored 37 points (18 g, 19 a) and finished fourth at the club in that category.
In his second season as Pro, the 2023-24 campaign, Brisson career has high figures in goals (19) and points (38).
His third season did not unfold the way he hoped attacking. Brisson recorded 19 points (5 g, 14 a) in 45 games with the Silver Knights prior to his trade in the Rangers and the arrival in Hartford. With a new organization, Brisson is pleased to start fresh.
“I liked my first two years in the AHL,” he said. “Last year there were many ups and downs. For me it is nice to get the chance to reset in the summer and I can place behind me last season.
“Like I said, the support of the organization since I am here, has been great, and for me I look forward to having a big summer and having a good camp and giving myself the best chance to make the Rangers and return to the NHL.”
Brisson’s focus during the low season has largely been offensive. He wants to go back to the form that he had in the AHL in his first two seasons in a 20 goal. If you do that, he would make an important gear in the attacking attack of the Wolf Pack, looking to return to the Calder Cup -Play -offs in 2026.
“Physically, for me, it is about getting faster, getting back in better conditioning and being faster on pucks,” he said when he was asked what he wants to work on during the summer months. “I feel that the things that I was not as good at were in the past this year were and make things on the offensive side, which are normally self -evident for me.
“I feel like working on the things that I am good at and finding my confidence in those areas will also be important. Let all those nods eliminated and have a big summer and a big camp.”
Working on those aspects of his game and again finding his self -confidence will go a long way to achieve his goalkeeping goal. The goal he set for the camp is simple and is shared by those with whom he will compete for a schedule place.
“The same as everyone else, I want to make the team (Rangers) out of the camp,” said Brisson. “I know I can do it, I made an NHL selection earlier from the camp in Vegas, so just get camping and paste. I know what I will keep in the competition. I learned a lot from last year, and I want to use everything I learned the summer and camp. If I do, I think I will be good.”
