Wirtz is ‘harmful’ Liverpool and it’s time for him to fall: Rooney

When Florian Wirtz arrived as the record transfer of Liverpool, he would always be confronted with control and Wayne Rooney believes that the German midfielder has still not found his place in our side.

Speaking at the Wayne Rooney Show via BBC Sportgave the former captain of England: “It has been difficult for him. I don’t think it’s the only thing that it is and he will look deep in himself to try to repair it.”

The ex-manchester United Forward argued that the unusually busy summer of Liverpool, which saw several attackers arriving, has created a level of competition that the 22-year-old can hinder.

Rooney continued: “Liverpool does not normally do this and in principle they have signed a whole new front line … they want to do it all well.

“They all fight each other to get into the team. And I think Wirtz is, he is the one who probably doesn’t do so well, but he has so much ability.”

The attacking midfielder had a golden chance to score in Selhurst Park, but his efforts at a short distance were refused by Dean Henderson.

At that moment a performance summarized where he had trouble imposing himself, just like Alexander Isak and Federico Chiesa offered more threats.

Can Arne afford to continue to exist with him?

Rooney continued and suggested: “I would have gone for Ekitike and Isak. I think Wirtz is damaging Liverpool’s balance, how they play.

“But he is a top player and I am sure he will be better. Of course he will do that. But he has had a slow start.”

The combination of ‘Ekitike and Isak’ could not have appeared in Selhurst Park Given the suspension of the Frenchman, but it will be interesting to see how Slot can fit his best players in the same team.

Michael Dawson criticized the decision to play Wirtz in a left -left midfield role against Crystal Palace, because the only danger was widely removed and it seems that our number 7 will no longer appear as part of a front three/four.

Our head coach explained why this system was abandoned during the break, where Cody Gakpo returned to his usual position and that now leaves the boss with another important decision.

With Ryan Gravenberch, Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister looks strong in midfield, and Curtis Jones who offers the bank’s impact, there are real questions about whether the record £ 116 million signs holds its place in the XI.

Liverpool signed Florian Wirtz to be a game changer, but for now the former Bayer Leverkusen-Man is still adapting to the Premier League.

And with Hugo Ekitike who returns from the suspension and is still finding Isak, every selection choice from Arne Slot will come under the microscope while we look at Chelsea.
