Florian Wirtz has opened conversations with Arne Slot about his early struggles to adapt in Liverpool, with a theory why he still has to produce consistent.
Wirtz has certainly not performed poorly since his £ 116 million move from Bayer Leverkusen, but the call for his transfer has led to a higher level of control.
Since his debut in the Shield Community against Crystal Palace, he has yet to score or help, the number 7 has not held a surprising criticism.
Spend against Sky GermanyWirtz admitted the difficulty he has adapted to life in the Premier League and the conviction he received from a conversation with Slot.
“I recently spoke to the coach about it, and he suggested why I might not be able to get into the situations that I normally go into,” the playmaker revealed.
“That means that I quickly make the game with a dribble or a pass. He said it could be because we press a lot and I run a lot.
“For example, the current statistics: I am always at the top there because I try to push hard and do what the coach asks.
“I need a lot of strength and energy for that, so if I have the ball, I might be missing a bit.
‘[He said] That it will just come step by step, if I play more games, become fitter, can do things easier, and then, when I have the ball, to be fit enough and to be enough to push hard to push hard. “
It is a valid explanation, in which Wirtz needs to be more of the ball than he was at Leverkusen, while he also plays in a competition that is considerably more intense everywhere.
“In Leverkusen I sometimes couldn’t rest, but jog a little back. I occasionally got a scolding from Xabi if I didn’t sprint completely back,” he went on.
“Here I can’t afford to rest, and so I have to take every possible route.”
Why Slot Wirtz left the Merseyside Derby

Fortunately, he became a member of a Liverpool side in a flying form and with a head coach and back room staff who have a strong understanding of cargo management and the value of patience.
“After the [Atletico Madrid] game, he told me I wouldn’t start [against Everton] Because he wanted to control the load a little and see in which game I could play better, “said Wirtz.
“He decided for the Champions League match, that I would start there and then be on the couch in the competition.
“I fully understood that. I was able to recover a little and didn’t have to practice myself that much.”
Players are clearly not insensitive to external criticism, in particular those of the Wirtz generation that have been immersed in social media.
“I don’t always want to hear it,” give it time, give it time “,” he emphasized.

“Instead, I just try to do better every time than before.
“And sometimes there are phases where maybe not everything goes your way; I have not had that often in my career.
“Once I have endured – that may be hard to say, because I don’t play badly, I don’t have the target contributions yet – it will eventually come, and then everything will be fine.
“It is no secret that I would like to have so far, but I am patient, and as I just said, I know very well that I can play well.
“Sooner or later I will be sure that things will become normal again.”
