The Punters Corner under the main stand has undergone a major renovation. In the coming days, carpet will be laid and the public bar will also be cleaned up.
“We’re not putting carpet in there because that area will be completely redone and reglazed in the coming months,” said WDC committee member Diane Dynes.
Both sponsor areas in the North Stand, which have undergone a total makeover, are sold out for the day.

“We think the marquee is almost sold out. Nathan Kean loved getting to know the locals.”
Dynes says the renovations will also future-proof the site.
“Everything we do now has the motivation to finish it and we have a nice, tidy location for the future.”
The ten drivers are led to the course and each driver is assigned a local cadet to take them to their rides and introduce them to the trainers.

“Mary Whitsey is the judge for Fashion In The Field. She has done a great job getting people involved.”
Musician John McCabe from Oamaru will provide live music and there will be food caravans in the parade ring behind the stands. Entrance is free.
