The DC area is facing weather this weekend that’s just as brutal as those Black Friday deals.
Saturday will be mostly sunny but cold as winter weather moves into the region from the Midwest.
From Friday, the wind gusts will decrease slightly, up to 25 km/h. Temperatures will peak in the 40s, which 7News First Alert Meteorologist Steve Rudin said is “a little below normal for this time of year.”
A low-pressure warm front approaches overnight into Sunday and will make way for some showers.
While the district remains under a Cold warning until 9am on Saturdaythe National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for parts of western Maryland and Virginia until Sunday afternoon.
NWS officials warn that mixed precipitation could produce snow accumulations of up to an inch, with the possibility of a light icing of roads. Motorists are urged to be careful.
Sunday will be similar to Saturday as high temperatures for the day remain in the low to mid 40s. Towards the evening the precipitation and clouds disappear.

Right now, it looks like temperatures in DC will be too warm for winter weather, with the exception of the suburbs to the north and west. Rain and snow may mix in the morning before turning into a cold rain in the afternoon. This can lead to small, muddy snow accumulations on elevated surfaces and grass areas. Temperatures will likely remain above freezing in the morning hours.
