Well, it is a full month since I posted a new article about Arctic Ice Hockey … So I shake the best in my summer relaxation mode and go over our Winnipeg -Jets again. Yet our favorite hockey club doesn’t affect me … with no touch of interesting news that comes from Kevin Cheveldayoff And the rest of the Front Office staff.

Although it is true that little has happened since the real North Franchise came to an agreement with RFA defender Dylan Samberg During an extension of 3 years I thought I would outline some of the little things that happened or will soon happen in the universe of Winnipeg Jets.

  • Starting with a bit of good news … that has been reported Adam Lowry is back on skating after his hip surgery outside the season. Prior to the operation of the captain, the Jets’ organization had indicated that the expected recovery time would be in the 5 to 6 monthly range, which would fall between 13 October and 10 November. There were no indications from the organization that Lowry is currently ahead or behind schedule, but having a month on skating prior to the start of the training camp cannot be a bad thing.
  • Two recent Swedish defenders who are highly selected in recent designs of Winnipeg have already started their seasons with some international game for their country (under 20). The most recent 1st round pick from the Jets, 18 years old Sascha Boumedienne has picked up a few assists in 5 games while the 2nd Rounder Alfons Freij was held in 4 games of the score sheet of the scores.
  • The NHLPAs annually Rookie Showcase Will take place on 3 September, so that one player of each NHL franchise can get the chance to get their first upper deck hockey card photo. This year’s representative from Winnipeg will be Brayden YagerThe 14th overall selection of the NHL entry 2023.
  • The next on the calendar is the Prospects confrontation It will take place in Quebec on 13 to 14 September. The prospects of the jets play matches against the youth of the Montreal Canadiens’ & Ottawa Senators and I am really looking forward to celebrating my birthday by watching the opening match on Saturday (MTL). That is only 2 weeks away people !!!!
  • A week later, the training camp of the official Winnipeg Jets starts on 20 September in the PEG and runs all the way to October 4. This will be the last pre-season where our club plays 6 exhibition games (From September 21 to October 3) with the new collective negotiation agreement that reduces that number to 4 (While the regular season increases to 84 grams).

Because that is not enough to really be eligible as a full article, there are some general contemplations about the real North franchise:

  • The last three winners of the president’s trophy (Nyr/Bos/FLA) On average 28.3 fewer points have the next campaign, which is not a big omen for the Winnipeg Jets in 2025-26. Nevertheless, the two franchises for that (forest/col) were able to protect the top 5 finishes after winning that hardware. So maybe our team has a chance?
  • All signs point to the NHL team of True North as one of the older clubs of the competition this coming season, after the signing sessions of 30 -year -old + veterans such as Jonathan ToolsGustav NyquistAnd Tanner Pearson Replace younger players Nikolaj ehlersMason Appleton& Rasmus copper. If one of the young children cannot take NHL schedule in the training camp, it seems that the jets have an average age of 30.3 this year. That has risen from 28.9 last season and close to last year’s oldest club (EDM = 30.6).
  • When it comes to age, all the positions of Winnipeg enter about the same song, with the attackers on average 30.3, the defenders are at 30.1, and the goalkeepers who are at the forefront at the age of 31.
  • Jumping ahead to the coming low season prior to the NHL campaign of 2026-27 … The management will certainly have a very busy summer with only a total of 26 players signed by the jets at that time. Of those 26, only 12 of them are NHL veterans, so that Chevy signs a few RFAs again and fills 10 other main class grilles. When you record the AHL players, the True North organization will be confronted with a total of 16 UFAs and 6 RFAs before they can kick off the season.
  • Of course the largest UFA in that group Star Winger is Kyle Connor. In the summer, very little was reported about the negotiations, except an early report that indicated that the jets and his agent were in the “The same margin“If it concerned his next contract numbers. More recently, another reporter said that the Camp of Connor is in no hurry to sign a deal and would like to consider all their options. I know that the observed delay by Winnipeg extended the last season by the leading point of last season, the following summer was the next summer RFA and the Baggenotage between a contract was passed on.Awaiting UFA), like two summers ago, it took the front office from the jets until October 9, 2023 before they could get Mark CrĆØmes & Connor Hellebuyck To go up again with the organization.
  • So there is still enough time for Cheveldayoff to do his thing and lock Connor before the season starts (October 9, 2025). That said, I will definitely go on record and say that I am completely against Winnipeg that this season is going with a non -signed KFC in their selection. So if the recent report from Connor’s agent who wants to take his time, which is completely right is as an experienced hockey player who has earned the right to determine where he plays, I think the front office of the jets should take a harder attitude. Although they can acknowledge the player’s right not to hurry, that does not change the fact that the real North organization must plan the future. With a 10 -team no trading list, Winnipeg must tell the agent that they will investigate what the 21 clubs that are not on his list are willing to pay Connor. Perhaps the team that makes the best offer is not well suited for a hanging UFA who wants to solve large numbers looking for a lot of dough? Is Connor prepared to risk the unknown in a contract year with the potential of millions of more dollars per season on the line? Or would he realize that he is doing well to play with his Buddy Scheifele and to do a solid one by committing distractions well in advance this season?
  • In short, the last thing the fans of the Winnipeg jets need is another hanging UFA waffles between loving the PEG but is still interested in the possibility of playing elsewhere. I know that some fans will say that our club should just go all the way in front of the cup and Connor this year, even if he did not sign again … and notices that there is no way to get better this year when they trade it. I will admit that Winnipeg would take a hit this season if they would trade KFC before it started, but because the world would not end when the Stanley Cup is being lifted again … There are more things to consider that only this one season.
  • If every NHL club was equally good, the Winnipeg -Jets would have a chance of 3.125% to win the Stanley Cup this year. Of course the parity in the competition is not that solid, so I checked out one of the gambling locations to discover that our club has the 10th best chances to lift the cup this year, but even then the percentage worked out to less than 5%. If you go on it now, only 16 NHL squadrons have a chance every season for Lord Stanley because you have to qualify for the play -offs to get the chance. If all teams agree, each club would have a 6.25% chance of a championship.
  • After all those figures, I think it is very safe to say that the real Northers have less than 10% to win it all in 2025-26 … so would you really go all the way to a poker hand who had that chance to win? I wouldn’t do it. If Kyle Connor will not sign a new deal for the beginning of October, I think the Winnipeg Jets should do the right thing and bring future assets for the current UFA.

Well, that should be enough to count as a good daily work and ultimately to get a new article at AIH. In my roaming around the hockey fans network I have not seen anything about whether they will still walk during the upcoming NHL campaign. You would think that some of the other site managers would have been informed of this, so it is possible that we will continue to have a place to share our thoughts about the Winnipeg jets. That said, although I really enjoyed writing articles and participating in discussions with all of you, I am not sure if I have it in me to run the entire site for a different season. I think we just keep playing on hearing and seeing how it goes … Or maybe the network will die on September 1? Who knows. I plan to write about the coming Prospects confrontation And exhibition games if we are still there, but are not willing to commit to this point to a little further than that.

Enjoy the rest of the summer … it certainly feels like it is in full power again with a few really hot days after some much needed rain.
