On Thursday, the Toronto Maple Leafs competed against the Montreal Canadiens in their third previous season match. “Just maintenance,” said Berube. “Camp kind of things. Get a little together, but he is doing well.”
So far, Nylyer has practiced and played in a line with his usual center in John Tavares. His other line mate is perhaps still in the air from now on, but Bobby McMann makes a business to play this season next to the two in the second line of the Maple Leafs.
Regarding Nylyer, don’t expect him to miss a lot of time. The attacker played 80-plus matches in each of the last four seasons, with three straight 40-target seasons. This season he will be an important piece for the Maple Leafs with the loss of Mitch Marner.
There is no timeline for the return of Nylyer, although he seems to be daily. As far as the other injured Maple Leafs players are concerned, both Domi and Roy are skating with Benoit and the only player who still has not skated with the team.

That said, his return to the Line -Up probably seems prior to Puck Drop for the regular season, when the Maple Leafs kick the year on 8 October against the Canadiens.
