A ranked UFC welterweight was unimpressed with Jake Paul’s performance against Anthony Joshua.
Paul and Joshua played a heavyweight boxing match at the Kaseya Center in Miami last year on December 19, 2025. This fight was also streamed on Netflix.
“The Problem Child” entered the fight as a huge underdog in the oddsmakers’ books, and on fight night he proved them right by refusing to take part in the first few rounds with “AJ” and trying every trick to slow the fight down so he could survive the majority of the rounds.
Fans and analysts expected Joshua to send the YouTuber-turned-boxer to the shadows within two rounds.
However, Paul frustrated the Brit by circling the ring. Ultimately, the 29-year-old was gassed and knocked down twice in round 5, but managed to beat the count.
In the 6th round the same pattern continued. Paul was sent to the canvas again for the third time. When he got back up, Joshua gave him no time and went for the final kill, knocking Paul down for the fourth and final time, which was enough to secure a TKO victory.
Paul broke his jaw in two places and had to undergo surgery immediately after the fight, during which he had titanium plates placed and some teeth removed.
Joaquin Buckley never wants to see Jake Paul fight again
During a recent interview with Parry punchJoaquin Buckley, who believes MMA is more exciting than boxing and has recently feuded with Terence Crawford and Shakur Stevenson, also made a joke about Jake Paul.
Buckley said that every time “The Problem Child” enters the ring, the majority of fans want him eliminated, and in the end it was Anthony Joshua who did the job right:
“It’s just like any other fight, right? When Jake Paul gets in a situation where he’s putting on these huge events for himself, we’re always happy to see him get knocked out. That’s what we always want to see, no matter who he fights. Even when he fought Tyron Woodley, even when he fought Anderson Silva, when he fought Diaz, we were all praying like, ‘Hey, they’re going to be the ones to do it. They’re going to be our ‘saviors and knock him out.’”
“And it wasn’t until he got into a fight with a guy like Anthony Joshua that we just knew, okay, this has to be the end. Anthony Joshua has to be the person to stop all this.”
Buckley then pointed out how Paul did everything he could to survive the maximum number of minutes against a two-time WBO, IBF and WBA heavyweight champion, while also noting that the 29-year-old had the perfect game plan despite the humiliation.
“The realization that Jake Paul was doing everything he could to survive. Hugging, falling into takedowns… When you fight someone who is constantly trying to run away, constantly falling into positions where you can’t get a good shot, it’s not easy. [You can’t just throw one punch and be done].”
“Ultimately, Anthony Joshua did his job and broke Jake Paul’s jaw, splitting it in half, perhaps to the point where Jake Paul can never box again… At the end of the day, Jake Paul has trained and has been very adept with his skills against other fighters. I can’t pretend he’s a regular Joe off the street because if he was, AJ would have knocked him out in two rounds. So in my opinion, Anthony Joshua did his job that night. Period.”
Finally, “New Mansa” added that Jake Paul has wasted his time and that of all other boxing fans, and that is why he has no intention of seeing “The Problem Child” compete ever again.
“I felt like he was wasting our time by sitting there and watching that crap. At the end of the day, he got the job done… Once Jake Paul slowed down, lost energy, stopped shooting takedowns… AJ caught his shot, and that one shot put Jake Paul down for the count.”
