Edmonton Journal -employee David Staples offered three daring predictions for the coming season. Among them: Darnell Nurse could be a candidate-back-back for the oilers in 2025-26, Noah Philp could be the Breakout star of the team and moodschien can try to recover Evander Kane at the Handelsdeadline.

Interesting is that Staples is not the only one who has kone back to the oilers. According to a message from the 2 Mutts podcastKane – now a member of the Vancouver Canucks – remained in Edmonton after the trade to Vancouver, and that conversations about a possible return to the oilers after his current contract ended, have already happened. (Of course we assume that they mean unofficially or not directly between Kane and the Oilers to prevent tampering).

The issue here is that everyone seems to forget the team that has traded for Kane, the Vancouver Canucks.

Why would Vancouver Kane switch back to Edmonton?

Even if all the above were true and Kane wanted to return to Edmonton, the Canucks should play. There is no reason to assume that they are open for this. They exchanged Kane because they thought he could be an important piece in their retool. The club moved to Toronto almost immediately afterwards, which means that Kane became even more important for the Vancouver season. When he is healthy, he is a bit of a unicorn-a power forward with grit that can score 20-30 goals in a certain season.

The Canucks took Kane’s full cap hit in the deal, which means they believe he has something to offer. Even kane Said”This group of ownership and this management group want to win. They now want to win. Play against them in the play -offs two years ago, they were one match, and maybe they are in the cup final. I don’t think we’re too far away.” He added: “It is a good opportunity for me and for my family to play at home. The oilers work with me to go to a place I wanted to be, and I think it would fit well for my family was nice of them, and I am just very enthusiastic to be a canuck.

“Evander is one of those guys against whom you hate playing against, and you like to have him in your own team,” said Canucks’ GM Patrik Allvin.

Taking into account all the above comments, there is nothing to suggest that this trade was temporarily intended.

Could that change change for the Canucks and Kane?

Perhaps one of the reasons why so many people are linking Kane to the oilers has to do with the current situation of Canucks and Kane’s contract. He is anything but stable in the last season of his deal and the Canucks.

“Every team wants to be more difficult to play against and for us, with the group we have here, when a player like this becomes available [at this] Costs, we thought we have the chance to upgrade our top nine [and] Middle six, and become a more difficult team to play against, “said Allvin. But what happens if the optics of the season change for the Canucks? What if they are not competitive and they will probably not make the play-offs? What then?

For Kane he can test the market on July 1 and if he thinks he might see what is there, the Canucks would be better off selling him at the Handelsdeadline for a return. Incidentally, the oilers can use another force that Edmonton likes, history has with the team and in theory they could add as a free agent for a discount agreement, if he could choose that.

There is a small problem. The Canucks cannot keep a salary for a player if they take them back to the team they came from. That would mean that Edmonton takes on the full cap -hit of Kane (unlikely unless LTIR plays a role), or some sorcery has been done to keep a third team retained before Kane returns to the oilers.

And this assumes that the Oilership Group Kane Kane wants to return. That is still one perhaps.
