Polestar 4 is an SUV of the future, or we would like to think so. Whether it is your Tesla alternative or you would rather be deputy life by your friend, colleague or family member who controls it, the general opinion of it has so far been fairly positive. There is one (of several) Reddit thread Where owners are essentially throwing in the towel because of the way in which the Polestar 4 has abandoned them, and that is enough to fill our attention. This concern comes from an owner in Denmark, who effectively describes the Polestar 4 as “the worst car I’ve ever had” in the aforementioned post.
Polestar 4: perhaps the biggest disappointment ever?
In a recent thread on RedditA driver describes his fall-out-love story with the polestar 4, referring to problems with his software, updates via the cloud and polestar support that is less than supportive than he had. Of course we have all been there when our new (or non-so-new) car starts to act strangely, with its technology in and out while we are on the road, and our navigation sends us to a wild geese hunt that is less than savory.
This SUV in particular is complained because of issues such as:
The GPS is finished 50 percent of the time.
The seat memory of the driver usually does not work.
The rear seat does not get enough air flow.
Auto pilot and adaptive cruise control do not work.
The alarm is randomly switched on after locking the car.
Listen, I hate, just like everyone else with a “smart” vehicle, if it feels stupid to drive. Real.
TLDR: This driver has had his polestar since November 2024. Hate it. Does not think that it will come true his previous VW, Volvo and BMW.
When technology no longer feels like a friend
An aspect that stands out in this complaint about Polestar 4, as well as many other EVs, is that the technology used is not always accurate. What happened is that if this redditor would use his GPS, the system would be 100-200 meters left. He reset the car, removed and loaded the Google Maps app from the touchscreen, all without benefits.
“Nothing helps. Sometimes it corrects itself after 10-20 minutes, but sometimes it is still wrong even after driving for 2 hours.”
The driver also mentioned his autopilot function and adaptive cruise control were anything but flexible, which, for a car that costs as much as the Polestar 4, is not Bueno. Rough driving as a result of aggressive corrections, brakes are smashed and the car “does not slide smoothly like my previous BMW 530e.” Au. Not to mention the latest complaint he has with a spontaneous alarm after the lock that his EV has developed.
It sticks when a luxury SUV is not as luxurious as it should be
Nothing is perfect, not even the polestar 4 SUV. But when you start having large glitches with everything, from navigation to automatic pilot to memory chairs, there is a problem that we would rather have tackled than ignored by the manufacturer. The Polestar 4 is tight, it is beautiful, it is all the things we want on paper. That said, if you have 600+ people who don’t sign this Postal and endless comments with similar problems that appear from the woodwork, there is a bigger problem at hand. Maybe it’s an isolated incident. Maybe it is something much wider.
