David Muoka is already away from Brooklyn. But he may not have disappeared from the nets.
A day after Brooklyn Muoka signed for a standard contract, they announced that they will refrain from the young big man on Tuesday afternoon. It created the grid space they needed to complete an exchange for guard Kobe Bufkin.
A competition source told the post that Muoka will probably land with G League branch Long Island, where he played before.
The nets had even signed Muoka’s contract in a way to make such a reunion possible.
Like all other teams, Brooklyn has to go up to 15 standard contracts on the opening evening, together with three two -way deals. At the moment they are overcrowded with 15 guaranteed contracts, four more non-godded deals and two two-way.
(Allegedly they also add Fanbo Zeng and Ricky Council IV).
Brooklyn not only has to reduce their selection by the end of the training camp, they also have to manage the salary limit to best maximize their cap space.
Until now, the general manager of Nets Sean Marks has used his league-high cap-space to take four salary dumping places-Michael Porter Jr., Haywood Highsmith, Terance Mann and now Bufkin.
The former trio brought back future tensile assets, while the latter came as a devalued 21-year-old prospect, the 15th general choice in 2023.
Atlanta had to get rid of Bufkin to erase both the grid space and the dop space, and the nets added the combo guard in an upward game that helps them to get closer to the required salary floor of $ 139.2 million.
He earns $ 4.5 million this season and the NETs have a team option for 2026-27 that must be collected by 31 October.
Brooklyn has $ 11.5 million in cap space left, although they could push it up to $ 20.15 million by refraining from all their non-godded players.
Marks can still be looking for another salary dump, probably a minimum salary player to reach the salary floor according to CAP analyst Yossi Gozlan.
