Why Kyle Tucker would be a good fit for the Blue Jays

It’s an all-too-familiar story for the Blue Jays and their fans, as they’ve been heavily linked to a superstar free agent, only to have their hearts broken when they go elsewhere.

While it’s understandable that they feel that way, it feels different this time as they come off a memorable run all the way to Game 7 of the World Series.

The city, the fanbase and the organization as a whole were put on display for the baseball world in October, and that should be extremely helpful as they try to land the big fish this offseason and in the years to come.

Everyone still expects Tucker to sign with the Dodgers or Yankees, but the Blue Jays are a legit player here, and the way they are viewed around the league has changed for the better thanks to their magical 2025 season.

Kyle Tucker would be a great addition to the Blue Jays

Much like Ohtani and Soto would have been, Tucker is the left-handed mid-range prospect the Blue Jays have been looking for, and he would be a great fit in Toronto.

The nasty lineup that gave opponents fits all postseason was good enough to come within one series of winning a championship, but that doesn’t mean they can’t get better.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr., George Springer, Alejandro Kirk and Bo Bichette, whom they hope to re-sign, make up the Blue Jays’ top four hitters, and they are all right-handed hitters.

Lefties in Addison Barger and Daulton Varsho have some pop, but fit better in the five-to-eight range. The hope is that Anthony Santander enters 2026 fully healthy and bounces back, but again, that’s a gamble; Tucker is certain.

The 28-year-old’s 22 HRs and 73 RBI while hitting .266 in 2025 were considered a poor season by his standards, but those totals would have ranked third and fourth respectively on the Blue Jays.

We know when Tucker is healthy and at his best, he is a 30+ HR and 100+ RBI guy. By placing him in a lineup that includes Guerrero Jr. and Bichette, everyone becomes more productive.

Coming so agonizingly close to winning their first World Series since 1993 will only push the Blue Jays to come back and get the job done. What better way to increase those odds than to spend some of the money they just collected during that run on a player like Tucker.
