With Gameweek 2 from Fantasy Premier League (FPL) on just a day away, we get some top insight from our team from experts and Hall of Famers.

Here, three -time top 200 finisher lateriser Discusses why FPL managers might have to wait before they hurry overly to buy Erling Haaland (£ 14.0 million). You can reveal his Gameweek 2 team here.

The first week of FPL is on the tape, and as usual we ask a flurry of things and we try to measure the meta. Do we have to jump on the gun or do we have to show a little more patience? That is almost the idea in the spirit of every Fantasy Premier League (FPL) manager and the answer is a rather subjective and contextualized gray. Apologies if you were looking for a black or white.

Haaland: Give it another week?

FPL Notes: Pep on Marmoush's "influence" + Haaland's fitness

So the big talk point is clear Erling (£ 14.0 million) And how good and rejuvenated both he and Manchester City. This was something that most of us expected anyway, but to bring things into context, Wolverhampton Wanderers played a bit in their hand with a block not so deep.

I expect a very different kind of game against the pragmatic Tottenham Hotspur (how much can change in a year …) managed by Thomas Frank. Looking at that game will tell us how quickly we have to jump on Haaland, but it is worth mentioning that he will have test tires against Manchester United (he says, optimistically) and Arsenal in game week 4 and 5 so that we can allow the luxury of time to assess the landscape.

Many FPL managers have already come to the conclusion Mohamed is wrong (£ 14.0 million) + Haaland is perhaps the best choice this season (which is perhaps the case) but there is much to learn. If a certain striker moves to Liverpool, how does that influence the goal for one of the most attacking teams in the country? How do the team of the two PEPS (the new Pep have a lot to do with a faster, more direct city) against a deep block?

The most important (boring) advice that I have for FPL managers is: be a sponge. There is perhaps a case in which Haaland are shining against traces and we can say that enough is enough. In that scenario, definitely press those buttons.

The question of £ 5.5 million and other reservations

Best £ 5.5 million+ defenders for FPL 2025/26 4 4

Many people will look at something along the lines of Cole Palmer (£ 10.5 million) + Ollie Watkins (£ 9.0 m) /Viktor (£ 9.0 million) Spire to Haaland + Elliot Anderson (£ 5.5 million)/Tijjani Reijnders (£ 5.6 million), which are perfectly good movements.

If it is a sausage-case scenario for Haaland-not-owners this weekend, I don’t mind that people become trigger-happy with their transfers. However, I want to be careful.

The £ 5.0m-£ 6.0 million midfield bracket does not look heavy with options. So if you have a midfield with two £ 5.5 million picks and they don’t seem to perform 2-3 weeks in a row, you might be driven into a position that might be difficult to get out.

If you are someone who jumps the gun in an early wildcard to get both Haaland and Salah, the pressure to get the other 13 picks good (at fairly modest prices) is very high. One game week is not enough to make clear, well thought out recordings. They are many half -baked shots in the dark. Are we convinced which £ 7.0 million striker is best? Do we know which premium of £ 9.0 million £ 10.0 million is the best? Are we sure which defender has really emerged as a defensive contribution (DC/Defcon) Monster?

We will take the time to assess these things and have more evidence in the pudding. I just feel that the disadvantage of 4-5 of these things is getting wrong on an early wildcard, perhaps you could bring in a rather, messy, ummm … pudding?

More turns in the transfer window

FPL comments: Isak + Trippier -Lesselupdates,

One of the largest elephants in the room is the fact that the transfer window is still open and the Domino effect of some of the still hanging transfers is quite substantial. I mean, we don’t even know who the striker is going to be at Newcastle United – and that is a pretty large piece of information to get. So in fact, calm and be a sponge (he says for a knee-youth minus four in game week 2).

But I say this because last season I realized that transfers spent in tranches of three and four are much more powerful than one or two transfers that are used together.

The opening game week can be an exception, as long as you are sure of the information behind your decisions. No matter how you look at it, however, transfers stacked for three to four weeks will always bring you into force in a position, even though you may act 2-3 game week too late. You have at least less chance of being wrong, what you could be if you move now or next week.

As a congenital aggressive, proactive FPL manager, this is something that I work hard to wrap my head and is the constant dialogue that I have with myself because I really believe that there is value when collecting transfers. It cannot be a hard and fast rule; It just has to be an intention. During the weekend, if you feel that you have seen enough, you press the buttons and unleash the chaos. Until then, be the best sponge you can be.
