A 51-year-old Sikh businessman, Harjeet Singh Dhadda, was shot earlier this week by non-intended shooters in a parking lot in Mississauga, Ontario. Peel’s regional police said he died in the hospital after 20 rounds of fires and researchers believe that it was a targeted shooting – which implied that the shooters were killed. His relatives accused the police of gross negligence because they said they reported all threat calls that their father received and even begged for safety, but the police have not paid no attention.
Who was Harjeet Singh Dhadda?
According to the family, Dhadda is a businessman who settled in Canada in 1997. “For more than 25 years he worked hard to build a life- he led his own company, was a successful insurance broker and contributed positively to this country,” said his daughter Gurlin Dhadda in her statement. However, some reports claimed that Dhadda was a businessman in the transport services sector. Family refutes every criminal connection
The family members of Dhadda refuted every criminal link. “My father did not earn this. He was not involved in something criminal. He lived an honest life. Yet those who came to harm him were armed with illegal weapons, with full contempt for the law and apparently without fear of consequences,” said son Tanveer Dhadda. “Our community is mourning, but we are also indignant. We ask: what does the government do to rising extortion and targeted violence? Why are innocent people left defenselessly while the threats become louder? When the authorities do not protect us, what options do we have?” Daughter Gurlin wrote in her statement.
