After high school, Amber skipped the university route and immediately went to work and eventually landed in Plano, Texas, as a meeting planner.

That job eventually brought her to the AFCA coaches’ Convention 2001 in Atlanta, where fate decided to play matchmaker. Amber organized the event – a job she had nailed for years – when Bob Stoops and Grant Teff helped her to push her to a young coach named Jedd Fisch. At the time, Fisch was only a Grad assistant under Steve Spurrier in Florida. Not exactly a concept.

But Amber? She saw something. And 20 years later she is still the one who runs the show behind the scenes. That moment, that accidental introduction, changed to a marriage that the distance over the wild, often nomadic life of great football coaching. Zaylee is Amber’s daughter before she met Jedd, but he raised her as his own from the first day. And that is something that Amber has never been taken lightly.

When Jedd Fisch landed in Arizona in 2020, the man was fired. And it was not just about football – Fisch was pumped to bring his entire crew to Tucson. Zaylee was already a student at UA and Pima College, and for Fisch, which made the move even more at home. “We will be close by, but not too close because she has her life to live,” he said at the time. “But we will be around the corner and I can’t imagine that she would not be happy to have her mother and her sisters in the city. We can’t wait to see her bloom in Tucson.”

When Jedd Fisch Washington took over in 2024, the program in Puinhoop – new conference, 46 new players and more than 20 starters were gone. Yet he squeezed a gritty season of 6-7 with wild disturbances about Michigan and USC. A single-point Sun Bowl loss for Louisville stung, but fans saw the larger whole: Fisch laid the foundation. The same blueprint performed wonders in Arizona in 2023, when he turned a 1-11 team in a 10-win powerhouse that crushed Oklahoma and no. 11 ended in the AP poll.

Now Jedd Fisch tries to pull a rabbit out of the hat. After a messy first year in Washington, he has first -year QB Demond Williams Jr. Ready to roll and put OC Jimmie Dougherty a spark. It is not easy-to-SP+ projects about 6 wins but if the O-line can stay upright and the defense establishes itself under Ryan Walters, the Huskies can make some noise. But while fans debate about Blitz packages and red zone calls, it is Amber Fisch who remains the real constant.
