Who is the best captain for FPL Gameweek 13?

Incredibly, the 17 most captained players all failed to record an attacking return in Gameweek 12! Erling Haaland (£14.9m) drew a blank from the more than six million Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers who handed him the armband despite missing three big chances.

The decision on the captaincy appears to be quite simple with Manchester City hosting out-of-form Leeds United. There are also strong arguments for playing the Triple Captain chip.

However, as usual in Captain Sensible, we consider whether there is reason to look beyond the Norwegian this week and, if not, recommend some different options for the risk takers among us.

First we assess the captain on site poll. We will then analyze player and team statistics, Rate my team (RMT) and the Premier Fantasy Tools Reviews to determine the best captain for Gameweek 13 before Saturday’s deadline at 1:30pm GMT.

Captain poll

To the surprise of no one, Haaland leads the Fantasy Football Scout captaincy poll. Only 80% of site users believe the Norwegian, who has scored fourteen goals in twelve league starts, is the best option for Gameweek 13.

No other player can boast even 10% of public support. Igor Thiago (£6.5m) is in second place, ahead of an attractive home game against Burnley, with just over 9% of the vote.

Elsewhere there is little to distinguish Jeremy Doku (£6.5 million), Phil Voet (£8.0 million) and Antoine Semenyo (£7.9 million). In reality, however, their support is negligible.
