Who is close to a ban or suspension in FPL Gameweek 9?

Now that the Gameweek 8 fixtures are over, it’s time for a look at the players who are close to suspension, have already been suspended or are returning from the mischievous move in Gameweek 9.

WHEN ARE THE SUSPENSION EXCLUSIONS?

The table above is taken from the Football Association website. It describes the limits for the different yellow card thresholds.

What we are concerned about now is the five warning sign. This is an unwanted target that Premier League players will have to avoid that of their team first 19 league matches of the season.

Penalties for collecting yellow cards are competition specific, while dismissal suspensions apply to all competitive matches.

ON FOUR YELLOW CARDS

There are only three Premier League players on four bookings: Neco Williams (£4.8 million), Now Lukic (£5.0 million) and the latest addition to the list, Tyler Adams (£5.0 million).

Williams makes up just over 4% of FPL squads, although there will be some ‘dead teams’ who will account for the bulk of that figure after Nottingham Forest’s miserable start to 2025/2026.

ON THREE YELLOW CARDS

There are twenty others who have a little more breathing space after three yellow cards.

Among them is Riccardo Calafiori (£5.8m), making up 14.9% of Fantasy teams.

The 13.1% is also the owner with three bookings Daniel Munoz (£5.6m), who delivered attacking returns and defensive contribution points in each of the last two gameweeks (DefCon).

Then Burns (£5.0m) also has a double-digit ownership.

Jaidon Anthony (£5.7 million), Christian Romero (£5.1 million) and Granit Xhaka (£5.0m) are the next most popular FPL choices among this contingent.

CURRENTLY SUSPENDED

There are only two players on the suspension list, both are on Chelsea’s books.

One of them is Malo wants (£4.9m), sent off for two bookable offenses in Gameweek 8. He is now serving a one-match domestic ban.

The other is a teammate Mychailo Mudryk (£5.0m), who has been provisionally suspended by the Football Association since December 2024.

BACK FROM SUSPENSION IN GAME WEEK 9
