Norfolk Tides 4, Charlotte Knights 3 (7 Innings, Game 1)
The knights were just short of the heartbreaking way in the first match of the Doublehead against Norfolk.

Corey Julks opened the game with a bang while he led by covering a triple to deep center. Will Robertson took a walk and Tim Elko drove in Julks with a sacrificial fly.

The knights took a few runs in the fourth, when Dominic Fletcher took a walk with one out. Two batters later, Jacob Aamaya came in the coupling by launching a two-run Homer.

At that time, Amaya’s explosion gave the knights a 3-1 lead.

Charlotte’s starting pitcher was [redacted]That 5 1/3 innings lasted, making two runs (one earned) on five hits. He allowed an RBI Single in the second, and he allowed an undeserved point at an RBI double in the sixth.

Knights Reliever Ben Peoples took over the hill for the knights with one out in the sixth, and he ran the potential draw on second base in the sixth.

The score remained 3-2 until the seventh and final inning of the game. Although peoples were delivered in the sixth in a large way, the seventh was not that simple. José Barrero hit a single to distract the inning and to set the stage. Livan Soto took a walk and Maverick Handley hit a single to load the bases. From there, Daniel Johnson stood a walk-off single to deep right, and that was the opener.

Charlotte Knights 6, Norfolk Tides 1 (7 Innings, Game 2)
The knights were on top of their game in the Double Header’s sleeping cap, thorn with a convincing victory over Norfolk (52-66).

The knights went well to work in the second and bend their strength early and often. Andre Lipcius launched his 17th home run of the season to open the inning. After this strong performance, Lipcius .246/.326/.475 in 82 games, all with the knights.

Bryan Ramos followed by cutting a sharp double to put the stage for Blake Sabol. Sabol wisely removed two throws from the zone before launching a cutter 400 feet to the right. Just like that, Charlotte had a 3-0 lead.

The knights were not ready because they built their lead in the third. With one out, Will Robertson reached a mistake, Tim Elko took a walk and Lipcius hit a single to load the bases. Ramos hit out, but Sabol rode in a few with a timely single who made the score 5-0. To finish it, Adam Hackenberg reached the second fault of Norfolk of the inning, and that spread the lead from Charlotte to six.

Charlotte no longer scored, but they didn’t have to. Six points were more than enough, because the pitching staff had control. Bryse Wilson, Evan McKendry, Jairo Iriart and Zach Franklin together to allow only one point on five hits.

Birmingham Barons vs. Rocket City Trash Pandas
The weather in Birmingham did not cooperate, so the barons (70-45) could not play against the trash (38-76).

Winston-Salem Dash 6, Wilmington Blue Rocks 3
The dashboard (46-68) has opened their series against Wilmington (50-65) with back-to-back victories in Winston-Salem.

With the game still scoreless in the bottom of the second, TJ McCants set the table with a lead -off single for the dashboard. After a ground out by Grant Magill and a Wes Kath Fly Out, it seemed that the dashboard would not score. Ryan Burrowes, however, expanded the inning with a single one, and after an error the dashboard had runners on the second and third. That brought Samuel Zavala to the record, and Zavala crushed a double to the right to make Winston-Salem forward, 2-0.

Dash -Starter Christian Oppor, 21, performed well, and only allowed one point on three hits in four innings. Opor also sustained seven strikeouts, because he was difficult for Wilmington to solve.

Relievers Jake Bockenstedt and Aldrin Batista each threw two innings and allow one point each. The run allowed by Batista put the Blue Rocks in front with a score of 3-2, while the dashboard was struggling to score after Zavala’s double.

The dashboard attack, however, was back in time, while brought together a striking parade in the bottom of the eighth. Jeral Perez led with a single, and although Alec Makarewicz jumped out, the dashboard had a lot of gas in the tank. Drake Logan and Kyle Lodise hit back-to-back singles to bind the game. McCants took a walk to load the bases and Magill reached an error that could score two runs. That brought the dashboard ahead with a score of 5-3, and that lead did not renounce. For a good measure, the dashboard has added an insurance run on a productive basis from Kath.

Delmarva Shorebirds 6, Kannapolis Cannon Ballers 1
Kannapolis (52-64) struggled attacking and they eventually fell short against Delmarva (43-72).

Nathan Archer led the game by taking a walk for the cannons, and he went to second place in a passed ball. Archer went to an error to give Kannapolis an early lead. It is worth noting that, even without the error, Star Prospect Caleb Bonemer struck with an out, so anyway, Archer would have scored.

From that moment on everything came up in favor of the Shorebirds, who scored six unanswered points to end the game. It was not a day to remember for Kannapolis Starter Kaleb Sophy, to say the least. Sophy gave six free walking on the way to allowing four runs, and he only eliminated one batter.

The pitching situation only improved marginal after Jake Peppers took over the hill. Peppers came into the game in Sophy’s relief, and peppers allowed two runs to three hits in 1 2/3 innings. Further on, the Cannon Ballers Bullpen performed admirable, because Kannapolis did not allow runs after the second frame. Given how much the attack was struggling, however, it was too little, too late.
