The White Sox attack appeared the second night in a row and stamped 12 points on 13 hits with four home runs. They hit 6-out-17 with runners in a score position and defeated the twins, 12-3, for their third consecutive victory. Andrew Benintendi was the star of the show on Tuesday and offered a lot of run support to Davis Martin when he hit 4-out-5 with two round trippers, five RBIs and three points and he was also responsible for an outfield assist in the fourth. There were also many positives with the rest of the young boys, while Kyle Teel, Brooks Baldwin and Colson Montgomery all achieved the base several times, and although Martin was not on his A-Game, he was effective and did his work while securing his sixth victory of the season (6-9).
In adjustment what felt like a negative tone to start the game, the twins on Davis Martin jumped straight out of the gate when Byron Buxton launched a triple triple triple to the left to immediately put a runner in a score position. It came back to bite them when Trevor Larnach smoked a base in the middle to ride in the first point, although Davis was able to recover and determine the next three outs without further damage.
In the second inning, Minnesota benefited from a walk from Martin, and Mickey Gasper then stable second – originally recorded as an out, but destroyed a challenge to place another runner in a scoring position. They certainly also capitalized on this, and Ryan Fitzgerald drove a gift on a fastball that Davis left far too close to the center of the plate. 2-1, twins.
Simeon Woods Richardson did not really have the same problems as Martin, and almost through the first three frames, outside of Andrew Benintendi who stamped a homeer of 398 feet in the second inning to serve Woods Richardson’s first hit of the night and bind the game to one. He also ran two white SOX stroke people, but was different in control when he threw five compared to.
Martin was finally able to close things in the third and withdraw the twins in order of his first 1-2-3 inning. In the fourth, however, Minnesota added another point to put them on the White Sox with 3-1. With how chaotic the inning was, it is a miracle that he made it with just one run scoring. A few singles from Kody Clemens and Austin Martin started the things and set up two runners. Davis then brought James Outman to a complete count, but finally ended up to promote the runners before he loaded the bases with the next throw. Gasper sent a flight ball to the left that caught Benintendi, and Bryan Ramos was smart to cut the pitch on the third to catch Austin Martin in the middle of the basic path to get the second, and luckily Davis was able to get the final.
Chicago hit back in the top of the fifth, and Brooks Baldwin and Will Robertson reached a walk and a Velder’s choice to put runners on the corners without outs. In his first game of the season, Bryan Ramos got one and he tore a line drive from the right field wall that scored both runs to bind the game to the three of them. After a solid defensive game the inning earlier, it is great to see him perform well on both sides of the ball.
Woods Richardson was able to maneuver from the inning after the Ramos Double, forcing the South Siders in place. Tauchman was in the first place to the first place and moved Ramos to third place with only one out, but both Kyle Teel and Lenyn Sosa turned out and helped the twins out of the jam. Woods Richardson’s Day would end there: three points (only two earned) on two hits, a home run, three free runs and seven strikeouts.
His replacement did not work That But much better in the sixth, when Thomas Hatch Colson Montgomery walked to start the frame, and the defense of Minnesota failed a piece that led to the SOX runners on the second and thirds of anyone. Benintendi rode in his second run of the night during his second hit to take a lead of one run, and Baldwin tackled another one with a single, 5-3.
In the second half of the sixth, Martin ran a final batter – his third of the game – but finally finished his six frames with three points allowed on six hits while they hit four. He struggled again with his control while he was still walking a bunch of batters, but the attack today had his back, hopefully ready to hold and deliver the victory for Davis.
While Martin held the twins in the first place after the fourth, the South Siders continued to put their foot on the gas and they went to the top of the seventh at a new rally. Teel and Lenyn Sosa shot back-to-back jacks to start the inning, and Curtis Mead started the rally again with a slow-rolling Infield Single. Benintendi was his third hit of the night and Baldwin sent a flare to the right that loaded the bases for the good.
Robertson’s bat fought to a 3-1 count, broke when he made contact, but the ball died and landed in the land of no-man behind second base, scored two more points. Benintendi read the ball perfectly and was almost right behind Mead while he came in to score, 9-3. A six runs lead looked very good with the victory still in Martin’s hands.
Bryan Hudson was recalled from Charlotte earlier today and he came out for the seventh in Martin’s relief and was solid and efficient. He forced a groundout to start the collection and eliminated Buxton for two fast outs, but Larnach had to be a nuisance and hit a two -squeeze, only for Brooks Lee to beat and end the threat. One inning, one hit, two strikeouts – absolutely not a bad day in my book!
The White Sox kept the lead in the eighth, and Teel reached base again, this time hit by a throw, and Montgomery moved him with a single and put Teel in a scoring position with Benintendi on the plate with two out. Benintendi was already in a tear in this competition, but he launched his second bomb of the night-one-run shot to the right center to give Chicago a nine-run lead, 12-3.
In the ninth, the South Siders quickly struck two outs while Bryan Ramos slammed a crazy check-swing, Droped-Third-Trike situation. Tim Elko Pinch hit for Tauchman, and although he hit it hard, the pitcher Brooks Kriske made one of the best plays I have seen in some time-the ball in essence after his back caught through his legs to easily throw it out for the first for the second. Kriske ran the following two batters to make things interesting again, but Montgomery turned out to end the inning after having worked a full count.
The Bullpen continued the good work in the second half of the frame when Bryse Wilson also joined the team earlier today, since the beginning of June did not throw in the large competitions. He dealt with the eighth graceful and in order to end Minnesota, including a strikeout to end the inning. Wilson was out again for the ninth to exclude things, and he did this with ease, the twins sat down to finish the game and conclude a perfect six-up-Six Down version together with the victory for Martin.
