Civil Aviation Secretary Kumar Sinha has assured that operations will return to normal and has assured people of 100% refund. However, the question that arises is why did IndiGo have to face such crises alone? Noted industrialist and chairman of RPG Enterprises, Harsh Goenka, has the answer.

How did IndiGo crises start?
Previous rules allowed pilots to take 36 hours of rest, which has now been increased to 48 hours. This leaves commercial pilots with a smaller number of available hours to fly. The problem would not be solved if the number of pilots is not increased. Until that happens, the number of pilots available to fly all flights will decrease. This is the main problem that IndiGo is facing.
Why is only IndiGo facing this problem?
IndiGo has always operated on a very “lean and efficient” model. Here, from staffing to overall operations, everything is planned very restrictively as it is a low-cost airline moving with cost-cutting measures.
Air India, another major airline, did not experience any problem as it may have had extra pilots available due to some of their planes being grounded, which they could have potentially used to control the situation.
