What is the next step for the stars of UFC 320? | Bjpenn.com

The UFC was in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday for a solid UFC 320 card. Magomed Ankalaev saw the main event defend his light heavyweight title against Alex Pereira. In the Co-Main event, Merab Dvalishvili saw his Bantamweight belt defending against Cory Sandhagen.

In the end it was Pereira who renovated his belt with a first round knockout victory over Ankalaev. In the Co-Main event, Dvalishvili Sandhagen dominated on the way to a clear decision to defend his belt. After UFC 320, this is what I think should be the next for the stars of the event.

Alex Pereira

Alex Pereira is again the light heavyweight champion, because he wrongly proved many doubters on UFC 320. Pereira lost the first fight, and it seemed that Ankalaev had his number. Nevertheless, Periera Ankalaev swung early and a TKO victory received just over a minute in the fight to reclaim his belt.

With the victory, Pereira said that he is interested in going to heavyweight. But the logical matchup is to combat against Carlos Ulberg next time. With Jiri Prochazka who beats Khalil Rountree on UFC 320, there is no need for the trilogy, so Ulberg should be confronted with Pereira somewhere in the early 2026.

Magomed Ankalaev

Magomed Ankalaev defeated Alex Pereira earlier this year and entered UFC 320 as GOK’s favorite. However, he was caught early and could not recover and lost his belt in his first crack in defending it.

With the loss, Ankalaev is back to the drawing table and probably needs a few victories to get another title shot. A logical next fight is that Ankalaev stands against Jiri Prochazka. PrOCHAZKA and Ankalaev both need a victory to achieve a title shot, so the winner of this fight could get the winner of Pereira-Ulberg.

Merab dvalishvili

Merab Dvalishvili remains the bantam weight champion while he dominated Cory Sandhagen on UFC 320. Dvalishvili landed 20 Takedowns while checking Sandhagen more than 10 minutes of the fight and surpasses the American 243-to-149.

After another dominant version of Dvalishvili, his next fight is quite clear. The Bantamweight Champion must be the winner of Umar Nurmagomedov vs. Come across Mario Bautista, which takes place on UFC 321. The title fight could happen in the first quarter of 2026.

Cory Sandhagen

Cory Sandhagen finally got his crack in winning the undisputed UFC Bantamweight title, but he was short of Merab Dvalishvili on UFC 320. Sandhagen had a hard time filling Dvalishvili’s Takedowns and returning because he was dominated in the loss.

With the loss, Sandhagen is back to the drawing table and needs several victories to get another title shot. But the obvious fight to make is against Sean O’Malley. Neither is a title shot against Dvalishvili, so the timing makes sense for a nice fight for both.
