The UFC was in Perth, Australia, for a solid UFC Perth card. In the main event, Carlos Ulberg Dominick Reyes entered into a crucial fight for slightly heavyweight.
Ulberg was in the fight and rode an eight-fighter-winning series. Reyes had meanwhile won three straight fights after he had lost four straight attacks.
In the end it was Ulberg who was correct when he scored a first round knockout victory over Reyes to extend his win reak to nine. After UFC Perth, this is what I think should be the next for the light heavyweight contenders.
Carlos Ulberg
Carlos Ulberg has concluded a title shot and his business before that with a great performance against Dominick Reyes on UFC Perth cemented. Ulberg looked good because he seemed to be faster and was able to land the better shots, and it was not long before he landed the knockout outpunch.
With the victory, Ulberg called this weekend a title shot for the winner of Magomed Ankalaev vs. Alex Pereira will be opposed to this weekend. Jiri Prochazka, however, takes it on Khalil Rountree on the map. The winner of that fight is probably for Ulberg for the title shot. Instead, Ulberg should face the loser of the title fight, and if he wins, he will be the next in line after the fight of Procazka-Rountree.
Dominick Reyes
Dominick Reyes wanted to return to the title photo when he went to enemy territory to face Carlos Ulberg opposite UFC Perth. Reyes, however, suffered a knockout loss of the first round for Ulberg when he was caught on a good blow. The loss broke his three-fog winning series.
With the loss, Reyes is back to the drawing table while he is outside the top five. Reyes has proven that he can beat the people behind him, but cannot pass the elite level at light heavyweight. So a logical next matchup for Reyes is to compete against Johnny Walker. It would be a nice fight, no matter how long it takes.
