California Democrat Eric Swalwell recently announced he is running for governor during an appearance on the Democrat Variety Hour, formerly known as the Late Show.
During another media appearance this week, Swlawell revealed that he also wants Americans to be able to vote by telephone because he wants to “maximize democracy.”
Swalwell seems annoyed that people have to wait in line to vote. Funny, he doesn’t mention how long people have to wait for election results in California. How long did that last fall? A few months? Maybe he should start with that problem.

“I want us to be able to vote by phone. I think every California… by phone, by phone, yes, if we can do our taxes, make our health care appointments, you know, essentially do your banking online, you should be able to vote by phone. Make it safe, make it safe. But it’s actually already happening all over the United States.
I want us to be a blue state that doesn’t do a little bit better than, say, Georgia or Alabama when it comes to voting rights. I want us to make the most of democracy.
And when it comes to democracy, I think if you wait in line for 30 minutes or more and still want to vote in person, you should fine each county for every minute that someone waits longer. We have to be better, not just a little bit better than the other states, the DMV. I don’t think Californians should go to the DMV in person anymore.
I think we can do that virtually. I think you can… You can have the DMV employees do it virtually, but that’s a lot of real estate. Is that the most popular position through which we can modernize the state? And I look forward to bringing these ideas to Californians.”

Just imagine how many votes Joe Biden could have gotten in 2020 if Americans could vote by phone.
This idea is not at all a disaster waiting to happen. Democrats would never exploit this to cheat, right?
