West Coast Eagles Honor Premiership player Adam Selwood with Tribute -video

The West Coast Eagles have paid tribute to Premiership player Adam Selwood with a video of his career height points at the club.

Selwood suddenly died at the age of 41, only three months after the death of his twin brother, former Brisbane Lions player Troy Selwood, at the beginning of February by suicide.

He played 187 games for West Coast from 2002 to 2013 and was part of the Premiership victory of the club 2006 against Sydney.

No details have been released about the circumstances of his death.

The video compiled by West Coast shows its highlights on the field, as well as work as his work to set up the women’s program and inaugural aflw Eagles.

A local hero

Selwood was born in Bendendo in Victoria to parents Bryce and Maree and moved to WA when he was a teenager.

He was part of one of the most controversial families of the Afl, together with brothers Joel, Scott and Troy.

“On behalf of all Victorians, I extend my sincere participation to the friends and family of Adam Selwood during this in -depth difficult time,” said Victorian Prime Minister Jacinta Allan in a statement.

“My thoughts are mainly with Bryce and Maree and the entire Selwood-Clan-a beloved Bendigo family who has made an extraordinary contribution to the Australian sport.

“A local hero who played 187 games for the West Coast Eagles and a premiership won in 2006, Adam was a leader both on and off the field and player, coach and advocate for mental health.

Spike in donations

Last month, Selwood entered the HBF run for a reason in Perth with the aim of picking up $ 10,000 for suicide prevention.

Fundraising has continued to receive donations and grows from $ 20,000 on Saturday to $ 33,000 from Sunday afternoon.

“After the heartbreaking loss of my twin brother for suicide, I made the decision to take the HBF run for a reason for half marathon,” Selwood wrote on his fundraising page.

“My goal is to pick up $ 10,000 to support Zero2HERO – an incredible charity that is committed to training, involving and setting up young people to become mental health care leaders and to help prevent suicide in youth here in West -Australia.

“This cause is very personal for me, and this run marks an important step in my own healing trip, as well as a constant dedication to increase consciousness on mental health and suicide prevention throughout the country.

“Thank you, from the ground of my heart, for your love, generosity and support in recent times.”
