Weekly wrap: 8 BSE 500 shares yield double digits returns. Infosys joins Top Sesex Gainers

In a week in which markets saw incremental profit instead of a runaway rally, 64% shares (319) in BSE 500 managed to end up positively a week on a week. This resulted in 8 shares with double digits of up to 15%, resulting in an increase of 1.6% for the index. While more than 30 shares are still closed in red, the losses were covered in a few figures.

Top 10 BSE 500 Gainers

The top position went to Dilip Buildcon who closed with 18% profits. It was followed by NLC India, Hindustan Copper, Intellect Design Arena, Sobha, Samvardhana Mothheron International, Gujarat Fluorochemicals and Avanti Feeds, with weekly returns between 15% and 10%.

Adani Energy Solutions (9.8%) and Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders (9.6%) missed the double digits due to a mustache hair.

Top 10 BSE 500 losers

In the BSE 500 package, 170 shares were concluded with decreases and the highest fall was seen in Godfrey Phillips India (9%). Meanwhile, Godfrey Phillips India, Nuvoco Vistas Corporation, Star Cement, Trent, Rallis India, Metropolis Healthcare, Balstampur Chini Mills, HLE Glascoat and Gujarat State Fertilizers & Chemicals fell between 8% and 5%.

Sectoral winners and losers

Sectoral toppers were BSE capital goods and BSE information technology, each won 4.2%. Other important indices such as BSE Auto, BSE Metal, BSE Financial Services, BSE Oil & Gas and BSE Healthcare and BSE Realty between 1.9% and 1%. The only loser in the peloton was BSE Consumer Durables at 1.2% decrease.

Wider Markets saw a strong action with BSE MidCap Select and BSE Smallcap Select ending in more than 2% higher on a weekly basis.

The BSE Sensex settled with a profit of 1.5%. In the 30-stock index closed 24 positive with Bharat electronics (8%), Bajaj Finance (7%) and Infosys (6%), Adani-Havens and special economic zone (APSEZ, 5%) and Axis Bank (5%) were top 5-profit.

The losers were Asian paint, ultratech cement, Hindustan Unilever (HUL), Eternal, Titan Company and Trent that fell to 7%.
