Yes Morant He can’t seem to get out of the way now that the latest incident happened last week. After a flat second half in his game against the Lakers, where he looked completely disengaged and scored just two points, he fired back at reporters at the Memphis coaching staff.
Not exactly the leadership you expect from your franchise star. The team wasted no time either and was handed a one-match suspension. Frankly, it’s just another chapter in what is becoming a troubling pattern for Morant. From the whole gun incident and previous off-the-field issues to this kind of attitude, it feels like both the league and the fans are starting to lose patience. The trade market is reportedly very thin for him and that makes sense since the face of a franchise isn’t all about highlights. It’s about responsibility and leading by example, and right now Morant isn’t showing much of that.
As for last week’s suggestions, Amen Thompson is still in a defensive funk, but the scoring has increased and the buy-low window is closing, while the two Charlotte rookies, Kon Knueppel and Ryan Kalkbrenner had great weeks and should definitely be on the roster. On the Sell front, Bradley Beal remains a non-factor, so he remains a clear decline, while Aaron Gordon remained hot, but in a more realistic way.
Buy
Nickeil Alexander-Walker: Another chance due to injuries, this time Trae Young’s right knee, NAW has gotten the starting nod and has delivered, scoring at least 15 points in the last 3 games. His usage is quite good without Young, so he should opt-in until we hear positive news on Young’s return (38% ownership).
Jusuf Nurkic: Walker Kessler has already missed 2 games with a left shoulder injury and will miss at least the next 2, which has allowed Jusuf Nurkic to start at the 5 for Utah. He hasn’t impressed, mainly due to a sub-par fg%, but the rebounds and blocks are there, so he’s a great streamer who can get at least two starts out of him (11% ownership).
Max Christie: While not the epitome of a fnatasy friendly, injuries in Dallas have left Max Christie with a starting spot and a 33-minute role in the last four games. Plus, Dallas plays three games through Saturday, so Christie is a great streamer for some triples, assists and points until then and is available in most leagues (9% ownership).
To sell
Saint Aldama: Aldama was considered a value pick later in the draft due to the uncertainty surrounding Jaren Jackson’s availability and Zach Edey’s guaranteed absence. Things didn’t end well for Aldama, however, as JJJ was on a roll on opening night and his minutes have decreased from last season. With Edey on his way to a comeback, I see little reason to hold on to Aldama, who is barely in the top 150 in value per game. Stream his spot and your fantasy team will benefit (42% ownership).
