It is not yet 2026 in most places, but I still wish you a preventive Happy New Year with health, beautiful memories and much of whatever makes you happy!
Besides last week’s obvious talking point, which was the injury scare that Nikola Jokic gave us, we had a moment of real scuffles in the NBA, which seems increasingly rare as the seasons go by.
Besides the brave Alvarado throwing a punch at Mark Williams, who is almost twice his size, I was amused by Jordan Poole’s reaction, as you can see in the video. Maybe he was having flashbacks from his Golden State Warriors days and a certain practice with Draymond Green…
Regarding last week’s suggestions, Egor Denim had an excellent game with 7 triples and is gaining momentum, while Brook Lopez delivered triples and blocks, albeit at a more mediocre pace than expected. In the end, Precious Achiuwa generously sat down with the opportunity on offer and Ausar Thompson did nothing to help his cause, playing 16, 24 and 22 minutes in the final games.

Jonas Valanciunas: The entire basketball world and myself collectively held our breath when Nikola Jokic limped out of the game against Miami with a left knee injury, but the basketball gods were kind and he will only be sidelined for about a month with a hyperextended knee. In the meantime, Jonas Valanciunas will hold the fort and while he obviously can’t provide the same value as the Joker, he can be a solid source of big man stats without hurting your ft% (26% ownership).
Ayo Dosunmu: Chicago saw both Josh Giddey and Coby White leave the game against Minnesota with injuries that should sideline them for at least a few games, so Ayo Dosumnu’s minutes and usage will undoubtedly increase in the short term. He’s not a flashy fantasy contributor, but someone made the play in their absence, so give him a look on the waiver wire (18% ownership). Tre Jones is also always an option if the Bulls fall short, but he is much less available in competitive leagues (20% ownership).
Isaiah Stewart: Another injury suggestion, this time for Tobias Harris. Stewart should get more minutes without Tobias and has shown great blocking percentage this year, along with good rebounds and percentages. He’s a streaming play for this week, with the only downside being that he only has 1 game until Saturday (20% ownership).
To sell
Andrew Wiggins: Wiggins is taking full advantage of Tyler Herro’s missed time and has become the primary offensive outlet for Miami, averaging 21.7 points over the past week with insane efficiency and top-tier defensive contributions. Add in the fact that he’s having an excellent year overall and you can easily see why this stretch could be viewed as an opportunity to try and trade him for someone who has a more proven track record of top 50 fantasy finishes.
