Indian left-arm wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav was unimpressed with wicketkeeper Dhruv Jurel’s glovework on Day 3 (Sunday, October 22) of the second Test against West Indies. Kuldeep used abusive words against Jurel after he failed to assess a catch behind the stumps at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Kuldeep impressed early on Day 3, dismissing Shai Hope for 36 and Tevin Imlach for 21 within the first hour of play. Kuldeep bowled a leg-side googly that drew a weak glove from Anderson Phillip as the batsman attempted a sweep. The ball flew into the air, but Jurel, seemingly unaware of the deflection, could not react quickly enough to grab it, giving him the opportunity to fall just in front of him.

The left-arm spinner used a few words against Jurel after the catch was dropped and the video caught the attention of the cricket community.

Kuldeep Yadav takes three wickets in the first session on day 3

Kuldeep Yadav made an immediate impression at the start of the day after being handed the ball by skipper Shubman Gill. The left-arm spinner dismissed Shai Hope with a delivery that straightened up and crashed into the stumps before striking again in his next over.

Tevin Imlach became Kuldeep’s next victim when a sharply spinning ball hit him on the back leg as he tried to push it towards the leg side. Replays confirmed no bat was involved, leaving the on-field LBW decision intact.

Justin Greaves attempted a reverse sweep but failed as the ball turned in and put him plumb in front. The batsman walked out without bothering to review, giving Kuldeep Yadav his fourth scalp of the match.

At the time of writing, the visitors were 217/8 after 72 overs, with Khary Pierre (19) and Anderson Phillip (19) at the crease.

India posted 518 runs before declaration in the first innings

After opting to bat first, the hosts scored 518 runs for the loss of 5 wickets before declaring. Yashasvi Jaiswal was the team’s top scorer with 175 off 258 balls. Captain Shubman Gill remained unbeaten on 129 off 196 deliveries while Sai Sudharsan added 87 runs.

In reply, West Indies struggled to find momentum after losing opener John Campbell early. Tagenarine Chanderpaul and Alick Athanaze added a partnership of 66 runs before both fell in quick succession. Captain Roston Chase’s dismissal for a duck compounded their misery as the visitors ended Day 2 at 140/4.

India had already clinched the first Test by an innings and 140 runs and led the series 1-0. They are ranked third in the 2025–2027 World Test Championship (WTC) standings.
