Meanwhile, winning captain of the 2025 ICC Women’s World Cup, Harmanpreet KaurAlso received the civilian award along with the former captain of India. She is a fixture in Indian women’s cricket and this award is a testament to her epic career. Reacting to the recognition, the Mumbai Indians woman captain shared her thoughts.
“My father got a call from President House. This year, I am going to receive the Padma Shri Award. I think it is a very big moment for me. And I am happy that, you know, my parents got to know it earlier,” Harmanpreet said in a video of the Mumbai Indians.
A total of 113 people across various fields were honored with the fourth highest civilian award this year, with tennis legend Vijay Amritraj receiving Padma Bhushan.
