The Asia Cup 2025 starts in the VAE on September 9 and runs until 28 September. Eight teams will participate in the tournament.
India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, VAE, Oman and Hong Kong will fight for Continental Glory while preparing for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.
The opening match will contain Afghanistan against Hong Kong. The final is planned at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
Sony Sports Network has announced a commentary panel littered with star for the tournament. Legendary cricketers Sunil Gavaskar, Ravi Shastri and Virender SEHWAG will lead the line-up.
The English commentary team will also include Sanjay Manjrekar, Robin Uthappa, Waqar Younis, Wasim Akram, Bazid Khan, Russel Arnold and Simon Doull.
The Hindi panel will contain SEHWAG, Irfan Pathan, Ajay Jadeja, Abhishek Nayar, Vivek Razdan and Saba Karim. For regional coverage, WV Raman and Bharat Arun will join the Tamil panel. Venkatapathy Raju, Venugopal Rao, Ravi Teja and Gnaneswara Rao will handle Telugu commentary.
India will start their campaign on 10 September under Captain Suryakumar Yadav. Shubman Gill will serve as a vice-captain. Gavaskar praised the team and said:
“While Team India is the Asia -Cup phase under the dynamic leadership of Suryakumar Yadav, we witness a mix of tenacity and experience in steering the side. This team symbolizes the future of the Indian cricket, diverse, versatile and combative.”
Shastri added: “With Surya Kumar Yadav led from the front and Shubman Gill controls the art of youthful leadership as a vice-captain, this Indian team is an example of the perfect mix of experience and potential.”
Both legends believe that the Asia Cup will be an important test for India. They see it as an opportunity for players to prove themselves under Suryakumar Yadav’s quiet and aggressive leadership.
