Magic Millions favorite lame on the eve of the race.
Warwoven, the raging favorite for Saturday’s Magic Millions 2YO Classic, is in doubt for the $3 million race after showing signs of lameness on the eve of the event.
As is customary ahead of the Magic Millions match, Queensland stewards carried out veterinary inspections on Friday morning and found Warwoven to be lame in the outer forelimb.
The Sword Of State colt’s stablemate Masvingo, who has similar interests, was also lame in the near foreleg, with the Bjorn Baker-trained pair given until early Saturday morning to prove their fitness.
“Both runners will undergo further examination tomorrow morning ahead of the scratch,” Racing Queensland stewards said in their press release.
If Warwoven was declared unfit to race, the 1200m race with the undefeated colt would be drastically reformed to just $1.70 before news of his condition broke.
The $380,000 Gold Coast yearling has been leading the pack since his brilliant win at Eagle Farm on January 3, which followed a dominant debut victory at Randwick on December 20.
The $6 second favorite for the Magic Millions is undefeated Chris and Corey Munce-trained Hellbent colt Zip Lock, by Maribyrnong Plate winner Tornado Valley ($8) and Shiki ($11).
